On April 9, Amazon Pharmacy integrated Eli Lilly’s recently approved weight-loss medication Foundayo into its distribution network, enabling same-day delivery and in-person pickup at medical facilities throughout the United States.
Foundayo represents an oral formulation of GLP-1 therapy authorized for adult patients dealing with obesity or excess weight accompanied by comorbid health conditions. Unlike injectable alternatives in the GLP-1 category, this pill formulation eliminates refrigeration requirements, simplifying storage and automated dispensing through kiosk systems.
Amazon Pharmacy has maintained a GLP-1 medication distribution program since 2021. The service incorporated Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pill into its kiosk network in January 2026, making Foundayo the second oral GLP-1 treatment available through this dispensing method.
Patients with insurance coverage can obtain Foundayo for a minimum of $25 monthly, equivalent to approximately $1 daily. For self-pay customers, the monthly cost begins at $149. The platform automatically identifies and applies eligible pharmaceutical manufacturer discounts prior to transaction completion.
Tanvi Patel, Vice President and General Manager of Amazon Pharmacy, explained that the initiative aims to eliminate common obstacles preventing patients from obtaining weight management pharmaceutical solutions.
Rapid same-day delivery service currently operates across nearly 3,000 municipalities nationwide. Following a $4 billion infrastructure investment in 2025, Amazon targets expansion to 4,500 delivery locations by year-end 2026. Customers in less densely populated and distant areas will receive delivery within one, two, or three business days.
Automated Dispensing at One Medical Facilities
Amazon is implementing automated medication dispensing kiosks at designated One Medical clinical sites. This system will allow patients to obtain Foundayo immediately following their medical consultations, eliminating delivery wait times.
The Wegovy pill kiosk program initially launched across five One Medical facilities in California. Patel indicated that future kiosk installations could potentially expand to non-Amazon healthcare facilities, subject to individual state pharmaceutical regulations.
One Medical membership is not required to schedule appointments or utilize the kiosk dispensing system. Those seeking continuous access to the primary care network can purchase annual memberships for $199.
LillyDirect Integration and Healthcare Provider Network
Amazon Pharmacy processes and fulfills prescription orders originating from LillyDirect, Eli Lilly’s direct-to-patient distribution channel. Same-day delivery options are additionally accessible through Lilly’s network of prescribing healthcare partners, including WeightWatchers.
Laura Steele, Group Vice President of U.S. Cardiometabolic Health at Eli Lilly, noted that patients may receive Foundayo on the day of prescription or collect it immediately at their physician’s office.
Last week, Lilly commenced Foundayo sales through LillyDirect at $149 monthly for the entry-level dosage for customers paying out-of-pocket.
Amazon Pharmacy delivers round-the-clock access to credentialed pharmacists and provides continuous care coordination through Amazon One Medical, featuring clinical assessments and therapeutic guidance.
Amazon (AMZN) stock appreciated roughly 3.5% on the trading day when the Foundayo collaboration was publicly announced.
