HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd., HIVE
HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. announced a major expansion of its Yguazú data-center site in Paraguay with an additional 100 MW. This Phase 3 development brings HIVE’s renewable energy footprint in the country to 400 MW. The project will support both Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing growth, reinforcing HIVE’s global infrastructure strategy.
The company plans to begin construction in early 2026, with full commissioning expected in Q3 of the same year. It will utilize renewable hydroelectric energy sourced from the Itaipú Dam, optimizing for efficiency and sustainability. HIVE previously completed Phase 1 in April 2025 and Phase 2 in September 2025, each adding 100 MW to the site.
HIVE will reach a total infrastructure footprint of 540 MW across Paraguay, Canada, and Sweden. The expansion supports its dual business model in both Bitcoin mining and AI-focused computing. Management sees this as a key step toward achieving scalability through renewable infrastructure.
Bitcoin Mining Capacity to Hit 35 EH/s by 2026
HIVE targets over 35 Exahash per second (EH/s) in Bitcoin mining capacity globally by 2026. This reflects a jump from the current 22 EH/s and expected 25 EH/s by year-end. The growth is powered by renewable electricity and next-generation ASIC miners.
The Paraguay expansion strengthens the company’s ability to scale while keeping operating costs low. Its entire Yguazú facility runs on clean energy, helping maintain consistent performance across all mining operations. The company sees Bitcoin mining as a primary engine for strong cash flow and network share.
Operations span three countries, nine time zones, and multiple languages, which enables broad resource utilization. This international presence supports 24/7 uptime and efficiency across digital asset infrastructure. With low-cost electricity, HIVE remains focused on expanding its hash rate while protecting margins.
AI and HPC Growth Accelerates with BUZZ Division and Bell Canada Partnership
Alongside mining, HIVE’s BUZZ HPC division continues building Tier 3+ AI infrastructure for training, inference, and scientific computing. The company expects to increase HPC capacity fivefold by 2026. This expansion supports sovereign AI and large-scale GPU computing.
A partnership with Bell Canada enables integration with national fiber networks and secure AI delivery. The Toronto buildout adds to this ecosystem, creating one of Canada’s most advanced sovereign AI networks. All workloads are powered by renewable energy, ensuring a clean computing stack.
HIVE’s infrastructure supports a full AI lifecycle from model development to deployment. The company serves enterprise, government, and research organizations with scalable GPU clusters. As demand grows, HIVE positions itself as a core player in sustainable AI compute delivery.
