At its Future Strategy Conference held on Yeongjong Island, Incheon, on November 14, 2025, Mercedes-Benz revealed four upcoming electric vehicles targeting the Korean market.
The planned models include the electric CLA sedan, GLC SUV, high-performance Concept AMG GT XX, and Vision V luxury van. The company aims to offer these models starting in 2026, positioning itself to compete more aggressively in a market where Tesla grew by an astounding 548.9% in 2024.
Chairman Ola Kallenius emphasized that the launch of these vehicles is part of Mercedes-Benz’s broader plan to introduce over 40 new models globally by 2027, with Korea among the priority markets.
New Asian Procurement Hub in Seoul
To strengthen its operations in Korea and the broader Asian market, Mercedes-Benz announced plans to open an Asian procurement hub in Seoul by January 2026.
This hub will oversee auto parts supply and quality control across Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia. The initiative is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and rebuild consumer trust, which has been tested by recent sales declines and quality concerns.
Local hiring is underway for sourcing managers and quality experts to manage supplier negotiations, digital procurement systems, and compliance checks. Suppliers aiming to work with the hub must meet VDA 6.3 certification standards, reflecting Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to rigorous quality assurance.
