Stellantis, one of the world’s largest automakers, has deepened its partnership with French artificial intelligence firm Mistral AI, announcing a bold plan to integrate AI solutions across nearly every facet of its operations.
The announcement, made during Italian Tech Week on Wednesday, marks a significant milestone in the 18-month collaboration between the two companies and highlights Stellantis’ intent to embed intelligence into its business rather than treat AI as a standalone tool.
At the center of this initiative are two new platforms: the Innovation Lab and the Transformation Academy. Together, they are designed to accelerate AI adoption, co-create industry-specific applications, and redefine how mobility companies interact with their customers.
Innovation Lab to Develop Tailored AI Solutions
The newly launched Innovation Lab will serve as the testing ground for AI-driven applications across Stellantis’ ecosystem. The goal is to tackle complex use cases, particularly in sales, after-sales, and engineering workflows, where automation and real-time insights can drastically improve efficiency.
Executives noted that the Lab will bring together technical talent from both Stellantis and Mistral AI to co-develop cutting-edge solutions.
“Our work with Mistral AI is helping us move faster and smarter. What makes this partnership unique is Mistral AI’s ability to work closely with Stellantis to deliver meaningful results,” said Ned Curic, Stellantis Chief Engineering & Technology Officer. “Together, we are shaping intelligent, adaptable systems that bring real value to our customers and help Stellantis stay ahead.”
From AI-powered in-car assistants to predictive after-sales service tools, the Lab’s projects are expected to move rapidly from experimental stages into scalable deployment.
Transformation Academy to Mainstream AI Adoption
While the Innovation Lab focuses on creation, the Transformation Academy is designed to ensure those innovations don’t remain siloed. Instead, it will guide Stellantis’ global teams through the process of adopting and operationalizing AI tools.
By providing education, training, and structured workflows, the Academy aims to bridge the gap between prototypes and production-level solutions.
According to Stellantis, this initiative will allow AI-driven processes to deliver measurable business outcomes, from shorter service times in dealerships to more personalized customer support interactions.
Elevating Customer Experience with AI
One of the most visible impacts of this partnership will be on customer-facing services. Stellantis has already piloted AI-powered assistants that improve in-car experiences, helping drivers with navigation, infotainment, and proactive maintenance alerts.
Now, with Mistral AI’s advanced models, the automaker plans to expand these capabilities into customer service and after-sales support.
By equipping teams with AI-driven insights, Stellantis hopes to make each interaction more personalized and efficient. Sales representatives could use predictive analytics to recommend vehicles best suited for a buyer’s needs, while after-sales teams may employ AI diagnostics to anticipate service issues before they occur.
