Shares of NIO (NIO) climbed more than 9% during Wednesday’s trading session and continued rising over 2% in premarket activity after the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer released its latest delivery figures.
The Shanghai-based automaker reported 35,486 vehicle deliveries for March 2026, marking a substantial 136% jump versus the same month in 2025.
These figures encompass three distinct brands within NIO’s portfolio. The primary NIO brand delivered 22,490 vehicles. The family-focused ONVO brand contributed 6,877 units to the total, while FIREFLY, the company’s newest compact premium brand, delivered 6,119 vehicles.
First quarter 2026 deliveries totaled 83,465 vehicles—a 98.3% increase compared to Q1 2025, effectively doubling the company’s year-over-year performance.
As of March 31, 2026, NIO reported cumulative deliveries of 1,081,057 vehicles. The automaker surpassed the significant one million delivery threshold sometime during the first quarter.
The company issued these delivery results on April 1, 2026 through an official statement from its Shanghai headquarters.
ES8 Flagship Model Reaches Major Milestone in Record Time
A particularly notable achievement from the announcement: the redesigned NIO ES8 hit 80,000 deliveries on March 20, 2026—merely 181 days following its market introduction.
This large SUV dominated its segment in China for three straight months, leading across all powertrain types and price categories. Maintaining this position represents a significant accomplishment in China’s intensely competitive electric vehicle marketplace.
According to the company, the ES8’s success stems from its “differentiated product capabilities” combined with strong, consistent consumer interest.
The ONVO brand, designed with family buyers in mind, continues expanding its delivery volumes following its recent market entry. FIREFLY, positioned as the company’s compact luxury EV offering, contributed more than 6,000 deliveries during its initial months of full-scale production.
Record First Quarter Signals Accelerating Growth Trajectory
The Q1 delivery count of 83,465 units represents a significant leap forward compared to previous quarters. The near-doubling of year-over-year volumes demonstrates substantial progress from the company’s performance throughout early 2025.
NIO now manages three separate vehicle brands designed to appeal to different market segments—a diversification approach that shows strong momentum based on the March delivery results.
The automaker’s all-time delivery total now exceeds 1.08 million vehicles since beginning operations.
Wednesday’s stock movement directly reflects investor enthusiasm about the stronger-than-expected delivery performance. Shares gained more than 9% during the trading session immediately following the announcement.
