Polymarket, a leading blockchain-powered prediction marketplace, has successfully completed the acquisition of Brahma, a specialized DeFi infrastructure provider that developed real-time transaction execution and settlement technologies for digital asset operations.
The transaction integrates Brahma’s engineering talent and proprietary technology into Polymarket’s operations. Company leadership indicated the assets will support infrastructure expansion initiatives and enhance overall platform performance for end users.
Established in 2021, Brahma developed specialized solutions for high-throughput cryptocurrency and financial technology transactions. Its product portfolio included smart account infrastructure, automated DeFi strategy implementations, and a Visa-backed card product connected to DeFi holdings.
Prior to being acquired, the startup reported processing transaction volumes north of $1 billion while maintaining total value locked figures above $100 million.
Neither party disclosed the financial parameters of the transaction.
Polymarket Chief Executive Shayne Coplan praised Brahma’s engineering capabilities, highlighting the team’s proven ability to “design, operate, and scale complex products for sophisticated users.”
“Building reliable infrastructure across blockchain networks and traditional financial rails is hard — there are no shortcuts,” Coplan stated.
In an official announcement, Brahma indicated its personnel will redirect efforts toward “evolving Polymarket’s stack and product suite.” Industry observers suggest the deal may streamline user onboarding processes, including wallet initialization, deposit mechanisms, and token withdrawal procedures.
Complete Product Portfolio Discontinuation Planned
Brahma’s entire suite of three flagship offerings will cease operations within 30 days following acquisition completion. The affected products include Strategy Vaults, Brahma Accounts, and Swype.fun.
Brahma has issued guidance to current users, urging them to transfer funds and close positions through official website channels and community support networks before the shutdown deadline arrives.
Polymarket’s Growing Acquisition Strategy
The Brahma deal represents Polymarket‘s third acquisition within recent months. In February, the company purchased Dome, a Y Combinator-supported developer tools provider specializing in prediction market infrastructure.
Polymarket also secured Lunch, a specialized recruitment firm that assists technology companies with team development.
On March 10, Polymarket revealed a collaborative arrangement with Palantir Technologies and TWG AI focused on developing artificial intelligence-powered sports integrity monitoring systems.
Earlier this month, industry sources reported that Polymarket had initiated exploratory fundraising conversations potentially establishing a company valuation approaching $20 billion. These discussions remain in preliminary phases with no guaranteed outcome.
The prediction markets industry has experienced rapid expansion, attracting major financial platforms including Coinbase and Robinhood to enter the competitive landscape. Polymarket now navigates an increasingly crowded marketplace.
The platform has encountered regulatory challenges across multiple jurisdictions, with Argentina representing the most recent example. Concerns center on unregulated wagering activities and markets tied to geopolitical conflicts.
