South Korean electronics giant Samsung has significantly escalated its DRAM chip deliveries to electric vehicle maker Tesla, based on information from Korean news source Edaily released on April 21, 2026.
The semiconductor manufacturer boosted its 8GB GDDR6 DRAM shipments to Tesla by a factor of four during April, when compared with typical monthly delivery volumes throughout the year’s opening quarter.
Tesla has faced ongoing challenges obtaining sufficient memory chip inventory to support its manufacturing operations. These semiconductor components power the company’s vehicle entertainment platforms and automated driving circuitry.
Samsung addressed the heightened requirements by increasing manufacturing output at its Hwaseong production complex located in South Korea. This site now serves as a primary manufacturing center for meeting Tesla’s purchase orders.
The partnership between these two corporations functions within the framework of a multi-year semiconductor supply contract executed in the previous year. Industry estimates place this agreement’s total value near $16.5 billion.
Advanced Processor Manufacturing Scheduled for Late 2026
Samsung is simultaneously preparing to manufacture cutting-edge AI processors for Tesla at its Texas-based semiconductor foundry. Manufacturing operations are scheduled to launch during the latter half of 2026.
