Oura introduced its fifth-generation smart ring on Thursday, positioning the device as the most compact wearable ring on the market. The company achieved a significant 40% reduction in overall size versus the Ring 4, decreasing thickness from 3.5mm down to 2.8mm while reducing width from 7.9mm to 6mm.
[[EMBED_0]]Constructed from hypoallergenic titanium, the device maintains a minimalist aesthetic that resembles traditional jewelry. According to Oura, the redesigned internal sensor system incorporates enhanced LED technology alongside 12 optimized signal channels, enabling improved measurement accuracy across diverse skin tones and finger dimensions.
Pre-ordering is currently available, with deliveries beginning June 4. Standard finishes including silver and black retail for $399, while premium options such as gold and brushed silver command $499.
Expanded Health Monitoring Capabilities
The fifth-generation device introduces multiple advanced health tracking features, with backward compatibility extending to Ring generations 3 and 4.
[[EMBED_1]]The enhanced Health Radar system continuously monitors vital biometric indicators including core body temperature and breathing frequency. A notable addition is sleep-phase blood pressure pattern analysis, which Oura indicates may identify preliminary indicators of cardiovascular health concerns.
A newly introduced Nighttime Breathing capability analyzes respiratory patterns across a rolling 30-day period during sleep. The system identifies breathing irregularities and recommends professional medical consultation when appropriate.
Oura has also integrated GLP-1 Insights specifically for individuals using weight management medications. This functionality enables users to record medication timing, document side effects, and correlate weight fluctuations with biometric information collected by the ring.
Exercise Monitoring and Medical Services Integration
Real-time activity monitoring has been incorporated directly into the Oura application. Users can initiate workout sessions and access live performance data including speed, distance covered, and cardiac rhythm via lock screen displays. The system also accommodates external heart rate monitoring devices.
Through a collaboration with on-demand telehealth provider Counsel Health, Oura now delivers AI-assisted medical consultation within the app ecosystem. Subscribers can submit health inquiries, receive customized recommendations, and establish contact with credentialed healthcare professionals. This service launches across 43 states, operating on a per-consultation payment model.
A new Health Records integration allows users to consolidate diagnosed medical conditions, prescription medications, and laboratory findings within the application, establishing a unified health profile particularly beneficial for chronic condition management.
Battery endurance has been upgraded to a full seven-day cycle. An optional portable charging case crafted from anodized aluminum is offered at $99, providing approximately one month of total battery capacity.
Business Expansion and Public Market Preparations
Oura projects it will exceed five million paying subscribers during the current quarter, representing a quadrupling of its member base over a two-year span. The company disclosed a parallel 4x revenue increase during this timeframe.
This past October, Oura completed a $900 million Series E funding round at an $11 billion valuation. Cumulative capital raised exceeds $1.5 billion.
Last week, the company confidentially submitted draft IPO registration documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission. No specific timeline for the public offering has been announced.
CEO Tom Hale previously projected the company could reach approximately $2 billion in annual revenue by 2026. Ring 5 membership is priced at $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually and qualifies for FSA and HSA reimbursement.
