Shares of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) registered gains of approximately 1% during Friday’s premarket session, trading at $485.50, following the semiconductor company’s disclosure of plans to secure up to $5 billion through a debt offering linked to its artificial intelligence and data center expansion strategy.

The proposed capital raise consists of a four-tranche investment-grade bond structure spanning maturities from three to 10 years. The ultimate offering size will be determined by market appetite. Funds generated may be allocated toward general corporate needs, potentially including existing debt retirement.
Should the offering reach its full amount, it would mark AMD’s most substantial dollar-denominated bond sale to date. The company’s previous investment-grade issuance generated $1.5 billion in March 2025.
At the time of AMD’s premarket uptick, Nasdaq futures had climbed 0.27% while S&P 500 futures registered a 0.10% gain. July’s Consumer Price Index printed at 3.4%, with the softer inflation reading contributing to improved market sentiment.
AMD’s equity had recently posted solid quarterly results that exceeded both revenue and profit forecasts. Nevertheless, shares retreated following the announcement, partially due to Elon Musk’s public support for Nvidia processors in SpaceX infrastructure.
Ambitious AI Revenue Projections
During its Technology Leadership Forum 2026, AMD unveiled ambitious expansion goals. The semiconductor manufacturer anticipates server revenue will surge more than 80% in 2026’s second half, followed by growth of at least 70% throughout 2027.
AMD’s comprehensive data-center segment, encompassing its AI operations, is projected to expand well beyond 100% in the coming year.
The company projects the server CPU marketplace will reach $220 billion by decade’s end. AMD is pursuing greater than 50% revenue share within that sector.
Leadership anticipates agentic computing will comprise approximately two-thirds of this market opportunity. Agentic AI applications require enhanced CPU processing power, a domain where AMD maintains competitive strength alongside its graphics processor offerings.
AMD’s early 2027 server revenue projections already exceed the entire 2025 server market size by roughly 20%.
Helios Platform Deployment and Strategic Partnerships
AMD intends to initiate component shipments for its Helios AI rack systems in September. Revenue acceleration is projected for Q4, with additional growth expected in the subsequent quarter.
Both OpenAI and Meta have pledged commitments for 1 gigawatt of AMD infrastructure each. Anthropic has committed to 1 gigawatt with aspirations to expand to 2 gigawatts.
AMD also anticipates implementations across Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and additional cloud service platforms.
Financial analysts on Wall Street maintain predominantly positive outlooks on AMD. The company’s Helios processor family is widely expected to generate significant returns beginning in Q4, with company executives asserting these chips can exceed the performance of Nvidia’s existing product lineup.
AMD stock finished August 13, 2026, with a modest 0.02% gain, before adding another 0.43% during premarket trading on August 14.
