Shares of AMD experienced a significant rally on Friday, gaining 6.19% to settle at $512.93, propelled by two substantial developments that emerged simultaneously in the market.
The semiconductor manufacturer successfully completed a historic $4.75 billion bond offering, representing its most substantial investment-grade debt transaction on record. Structured across four separate tranches, the offering attracted robust interest from institutional buyers, allowing AMD to price its longest-maturity bonds beneath initial pricing estimates. This outcome signals solid investor trust in the company’s strategic trajectory.
The capital raised is earmarked to support AMD’s expansion in AI hardware development and substantial capital expenditure initiatives.
BofA Securities Elevates CPU Market Outlook
Vivek Arya, an analyst at Bank of America, increased the firm’s server-CPU market size projection for 2030 from approximately $170 billion to more than $210 billion. AMD received top pick status in the semiconductor sector from the bank.
Arya’s investment case revolves around “agentic AI,” which he believes is transforming data center infrastructure toward a more proportionate CPU-to-GPU configuration. This represents a departure from the GPU-centric deployments that have prevailed in recent periods, positioning AMD favorably due to its superior clock speeds and elevated core counts.
The analyst highlighted both cloud service providers and enterprise server markets as key expansion opportunities for AMD moving ahead.
Customer Commitments and Product Pipeline
AMD’s Technology Leadership Forum contributed to the positive investor sentiment. Company executives provided guidance for server revenue acceleration exceeding 80% in the second half of 2026 and a minimum of 70% growth in 2027. The comprehensive AI data center segment is anticipated to expand by more than 100% in the coming year.
Regarding product launches, AMD plans to commence deliveries of its Helios AI rack systems in September. Major technology companies including Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic have all executed multi-gigawatt computing agreements. Anthropic specifically pledged up to 2 GW of MI450-series computing capacity.
The company further revealed Day 0 compatibility for the Qwen3.8 27B AI model across its Ryzen AI Max+ platforms and Radeon AI PRO equipment, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen its position among AI application developers.
Financial results released on August 4th demonstrated AMD delivered $1.66 earnings per share, surpassing the consensus projection of $1.62. Total revenue reached $11.54 billion, representing a 50.1% year-over-year increase and exceeding the $11.31 billion analyst estimate.
Institutional investors control 71.34% of AMD’s outstanding shares. Baird maintains a $1,250 price objective on the equity, while Goldman Sachs recently elevated its target to $640.
The consensus Wall Street price target currently stands at $647.04, suggesting approximately 31% potential appreciation from Friday’s closing price. Concerning risk factors, corporate insiders divested $74.7 million in shares during the previous 90 days, and AMD’s valuation metrics remain stretched with a price-to-earnings ratio of 132.23.
