Bitcoin experienced a notable recovery on Monday, climbing 2.3% to reach $64,282 following a challenging week during which the leading digital currency by market capitalization declined nearly 3%.

The upward movement materialized as market participants turned their attention to an upcoming White House gathering slated for Wednesday, where President Trump is anticipated to meet with cryptocurrency industry executives as part of his administration’s newly formed innovation committee.
The Wednesday session will bring together crypto company CEOs, prediction market executives, and representatives from conventional financial institutions and artificial intelligence sectors. A subsequent meeting is scheduled for Thursday at the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, the body overseeing the committee, where additional cryptocurrency regulatory matters are expected to be addressed.
The previous week’s downturn was attributed to multiple factors including escalating Middle Eastern geopolitical tensions, regulatory challenges, and announcements that Strategy had liquidated $333.7 million of its equity. The firm disposed of 3,458,866 shares during the August 10-16 period, allocating the funds toward dividend payments, share buyback programs, and cash reserve expansion.
Strategy’s Bitcoin portfolio remains intact at 840,447 tokens, currently valued at approximately $53.4 billion. The firm’s average acquisition cost per Bitcoin stands at $75,385.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs registered approximately $390 million in net withdrawals throughout the previous week, representing the most significant weekly outflow since early July, based on information from SoSoValue.
Monday also delivered a modest encouraging development from the U.S. Treasury, which initiated a public consultation regarding the issuance and distribution of payment stablecoins pursuant to the GENIUS Act.
Volatility Squeezed to Multi-Year Lows
Glassnode co-founder Rafael Schultze-Kraft highlighted an uncommon configuration within the options marketplace. He indicated that Bitcoin’s implied volatility had descended to the 2nd percentile across its complete historical range. Glassnode’s “volatility trap” indicator registered 91 out of 100, marking its most elevated reading in more than three and a half years.
Schultze-Kraft observed that implied volatility remains approximately 1.5 times higher than realized volatility, indicating options market participants continue paying a significant premium despite exceptionally subdued price movements. Historical periods exhibiting comparable compression have frequently preceded substantial price swings, although the metrics don’t indicate a specific directional bias.
Critical Price Zones Under Surveillance
Analyst Michael van de Poppe highlighted the significance of the $63,300 threshold. He observed that Bitcoin tested this zone and encountered immediate buying support, suggesting that a subsequent retest would indicate underlying weakness. He anticipates Bitcoin advancing toward $65,000 should the current upward momentum persist.
Based on CoinGlass liquidation metrics, substantial overhead liquidity concentrates at $64,000 and $64,700. Downside liquidity accumulates near $62,700 and $62,200. Bitcoin has remained confined within the $62,000 to $65,000 trading corridor since late July.
Analyst Ted (@TedPillows) on X identified the $72,000ā$74,000 range as the pivotal zone for Bitcoin’s subsequent major directional movement. He stated that should Bitcoin successfully reclaim that territory, the probability of another descent below $60,000 diminishes considerably. Conversely, failure to recapture those levels could result in a decline beneath $58,000.
Bitcoin was last trading around $64,282 as of Monday evening ET.
