Shares of Coca-Cola moved higher during Tuesday’s premarket session following the beverage titan’s announcement of second-quarter results that exceeded analyst projections and an upward revision to its annual guidance.
The company reported comparable earnings per share of $0.97 for the three-month period concluded July 3, representing a 7% increase from the same quarter last year and topping Bloomberg consensus projections of $0.93. Total net revenue advanced 7% to reach $13.4 billion.
Management now anticipates organic revenue expansion of roughly 5% for the 2026 fiscal year, an upgrade from the previously communicated target range of 4% to 5%. Guidance for comparable EPS growth received a similar boost, now expected at 9%ā10% versus the earlier 8%ā9% forecast.
Year-to-date, KO shares have appreciated approximately 20%.
The FIFA World Cup tournament, which took place throughout June and concluded earlier this month, provided a notable tailwind for the company’s sales performance. Management indicated that World Cup-themed marketing efforts “contributed to a portion” of the 5% volume increase for the core Coca-Cola brand and an 8% jump for the Powerade sports drink line.
Zero sugar product variants and the fairlife milk brand within the United States market also served as growth catalysts throughout the quarter.
Profitability Remains Resilient Amid Higher Costs
Comparable operating margin improved to 35.6%, compared to 34.7% in the year-ago period, exceeding Bloomberg analyst estimates of 35%. This margin expansion occurred even as the company faced increased marketing expenditures and rising input costs.
Reduced operating expenses and favorable foreign exchange movements helped counterbalance these cost headwinds.
Price Adjustments and Packaging Innovation
Coca-Cola has implemented selective price increases across certain product lines while simultaneously introducing smaller package formats designed to attract price-sensitive American consumers. This dual approach contributed meaningfully to topline performance.
Ready-to-drink tea products and the fairlife milk line also delivered positive contributions to revenue expansion, underscoring the company’s diversified portfolio strategy.
Chief Executive Officer Henrique Braun noted that the consumer landscape continues to be “dynamic,” pointing to ongoing uncertainty surrounding potential inflationary pressures linked to the continuing Iran conflict and volatile energy markets.
Second quarter comparable revenue totaled approximately $13.37 billion, exceeding analyst estimates of $13.16 billion compiled by LSEG.
