Major cryptocurrency-related equities experienced significant gains on Wednesday following a high-profile meeting between digital asset industry leaders and President Donald Trump at the White House.
Strategy, recognized as among the largest corporate Bitcoin holders globally, surged 12.7% to close at $104.25. This marked the company’s strongest closing price since June 22 and represented its most substantial single-session advance since February 6, based on data from Dow Jones Market Data.
Coinbase Global advanced 9.6% to settle at $160.20, reaching its strongest closing level since July 30. During intraday trading, shares peaked at $165.74, marking a 13.3% gain at the session high. The cryptocurrency exchange ranked as the sixth-strongest performer within the S&P 500 index for the day.
Circle experienced gains approaching 10% while Bullish climbed roughly 8%. Bitcoin itself advanced 6.4%, reaching $68,681 during Wednesday afternoon trading.
Regulatory Progress Powers Market Gains
Market analysts identified two primary catalysts driving the rally. The first involved capital rotation away from artificial intelligence stocks, as traders locked in gains following a robust performance period. The second catalyst stemmed from renewed confidence surrounding the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act’s legislative prospects.
Owen Lau, an analyst at Clear Street, attributed the advances to “the reversal of the AI trade, and optimism from Senators Tim Scott and Cynthia Lummis, as well as from White House representative Patrick Witt.”
During remarks at the SALT conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott expressed strong confidence that the legislation would advance during September.
“There’s no question about the fact that this will become law,” Scott declared.
Senate leadership has established September 15 as the date for a procedural vote on the legislation. This timeline creates a concrete deadline for congressional members to address outstanding points of contention.
Critical Issues Still Under Negotiation
Patrick Witt, serving as executive director of the White House’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, indicated that negotiations are progressing. “We’re down to kind of more of an A-B type of environment,” he explained. “That’s when you’re at the point where a grand bargain can be had.”
Unresolved matters include frameworks for cryptocurrency rewards programs, regulations governing decentralized finance protocols, and ethics requirements. Democratic lawmakers have indicated they will not support the legislation without robust ethics provisions. The White House has yet to publicly address a compromise proposal on ethics presented by Senators Ruben Gallego and Thom Tillis.
The Clarity Act holds significant importance for enterprises like Coinbase and Bullish, as it would establish more definitive federal guidelines for digital asset exchange platforms. These regulatory frameworks would also prove more resistant to potential reversal by subsequent administrations.
Strategy shares have gained 11.7% during the current month but continue to show a 31.4% decline for the year. Coinbase has advanced 9.7% this month while remaining down 29% on a year-to-date basis.
The September 15 procedural vote will serve as a critical indicator of whether sufficient Senate support exists to move the legislation forward.
