The popular meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin has experienced a notable rally of approximately 14% during the last 48 hours, successfully reclaiming the psychologically important $0.10 price level. This impressive performance has positioned DOGE as the leading performer within the top 20 digital assets ranked by total market capitalization.

This upward momentum received substantial support from widespread short position liquidations throughout the cryptocurrency marketplace. Specifically, Dogecoin witnessed $5.66 million worth of forced short closures on September 21, representing the most significant short squeeze event for the token since the end of August.
Large holder activity has intensified dramatically in recent sessions. According to tracking data from CoinGlass, four substantial wallet addresses established bullish positions aggregating 78.2 million DOGE tokens, valued at approximately $5.59 million at current prices. Notably, all four of these whale positions are currently showing positive returns. In contrast, the sole short position initiated during this same timeframe is experiencing an unrealized deficit of $119,000.
Market analyst Trader Tardigrade (@TATrader_Alan) observed on a 3-day timeframe that his preset limit sell order executed at short-term resistance levels. He indicated that market momentum has transitioned into bullish territory and revealed plans to exclusively place purchase orders over the coming weeks, anticipating DOGE to consolidate strength near resistance zones before attempting another upward breakout.
Institutional Capital and Derivatives Activity Accelerate
Participation from institutional players is demonstrating clear signs of expansion. DOGE-targeted exchange-traded funds captured $909,650 in net inflows this Monday, representing a substantial increase from the $284,510 recorded on September 15. Growing ETF participation typically catalyzes broader retail engagement, creating additional upward pressure on market prices.
Futures open interest for Dogecoin has advanced to $1.57 billion, matching the peak levels last observed on August 22. On Binance specifically, open interest climbed to $345 million, a threshold not witnessed since May 2026. The ratio of long positions to short positions currently registers at 2.30 on Binance and 2.65 on OKX, indicating that bullish traders substantially outnumber bearish positions across both major platforms.
From a technical standpoint, DOGE has successfully penetrated above its 200-day exponential moving average positioned at $0.092 and is currently trading above both the 50-day and 100-day EMAs, which converge around the $0.083 level. The MACD indicator has generated a bullish crossover above its signal line, while the accompanying histogram displays expanding positive momentum.
Critical Price Levels Under Observation
The Relative Strength Index currently reads 72, positioning the asset within overbought conditions. For continued upward progression, DOGE must successfully breach the resistance zone spanning $0.100 to $0.10219, which would establish a pathway toward the $0.116β$0.117 target range.

Chart analysis reveals a double-bottom formation on the daily timeframe, projecting a technical objective of $0.102 assuming current support levels remain intact.
The climb in Binance’s DOGE open interest to $345 million represents the most elevated measurement recorded on that particular exchange since May 2026.
