Ethereum (ETH) is currently exchanging hands at $2,665, reflecting a 1.53% decrease as of September 28.

The decline follows deteriorating diplomatic discussions between Washington and Tehran. President Trump dismissed Iran’s proposed 7-day ceasefire initiative over the weekend.
The benchmark US 10-Year Treasury yield surged past 5.26% alongside rising crude oil valuations. Consequently, speculative investments including digital currencies experienced downward pressure.
Blockchain treasury management firm BitMine Immersion Technologies acquired an additional 17,362 ETH during the previous week. This strategic purchase elevated the company’s aggregate holdings beyond the 6 million ETH threshold.
At prevailing market rates, this reserve commands a valuation of $16.08 billion. The position accounts for 4.9% of Ethereum’s circulating supply.
BitMine’s Chairman Thomas Lee characterized this achievement as “tremendous,” emphasizing the firm accumulated this substantial position within a 15-month timeframe.
Lee observed that institutional portfolios remain significantly underexposed to cryptocurrency assets. He anticipates increased institutional allocation throughout the remaining quarters of 2026 as ETH continues demonstrating superior performance relative to traditional macro investments.
Beyond Ethereum, BitMine maintains 213 Bitcoin, alongside equity positions valued at $180 million in Beast Industries and $115 million in Eightco Holdings. The organization disclosed $672 million in liquid assets and marketable securities.
BitMine’s publicly traded equity, ticker BMNR, settled at $27.20, registering a 1% intraday decline.
Ethereum ETFs Continue Attracting Capital
Spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds registered $689.8 million in aggregate net inflows throughout the preceding week, per SoSoValue analytics. This capital influx extended a six-consecutive-day positive flow streak.

These institutional inflows persisted despite ETH breaching the $2,700 technical support threshold during the identical timeframe.
Alternative Cryptocurrency Momentum Shows Warning Signs
CryptoQuant intelligence reveals alternative cryptocurrency inflows have expanded 45% across recent months, surpassing $371 billion in total value.
Market analyst Darkfost noted that 87% of altcoins listed on Binance currently exhibit bullish price action. However, Darkfost cautioned that the aggregate altcoin market capitalization’s RSI displays bearish divergence, signaling potential rally exhaustion.
From a technical perspective, analyst Ali Charts identified an emerging bull flag formation on Ethereum’s shorter-term intervals. Ali Charts emphasized that sustained support above $2,640 maintains the bullish thesis, suggesting an hourly candle close exceeding $2,700 would validate the breakout pattern and establish a trajectory toward $3,000.
Additionally, Ethereum generated a buy signal on the four-hour timeframe as the RSI indicator crossed above its signal line approaching the $2,703 resistance zone.
A confirmed daily close above $2,703 could propel ETH toward the $2,800 milestone. This potential advance hinges on whether financial markets adequately incorporate elevated oil prices’ impact on risk-oriented assets.
In separate developments, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced the 2027 Hegota upgrade will constitute the blockchain’s final “conventional fork.” Buterin explained subsequent protocol enhancements will introduce recursive STARKs, automated formal verification mechanisms, and quantum-resistant consensus architecture.
Buterin’s strategic roadmap targets complete quantum resistance implementation by late 2029, positioning Hegota as the inaugural phase of this transformative transition.
