Ethereum is currently trading in the vicinity of $2,540 this Monday, successfully defending the critical $2,500 support zone after demonstrating consistent upward momentum in recent sessions.

Digital asset investment firm BitMine Immersion (BMNR) acquired 27,180 ETH throughout the past week. This purchase elevates the company’s aggregate holdings to 5.95 million ETH, representing approximately 4.9% of Ethereum’s total circulating supply of 122 million ETH.
Additionally, BitMine has staked 5.067 million ETH via its Made in America Validator Network (MAVN). The firm anticipates this staking operation will generate $334 million in annualized revenue.
In contrast, cryptocurrency mining hardware manufacturer Canaan pursued an opposing strategy. The company liquidated its complete position of 3,952 ETH, alongside 54 BTC, generating $13.9 million in proceeds. Canaan executed the ETH sale at an average price of $2,400 per token and redirected the funds toward repurchasing 13.6 million of its American Depositary Shares.
Santiment Intelligence identified a significant transformation in exchange-held supply. The analytics platform reported that ETH balances on exchanges have declined to 6.06 million, down dramatically from the June 2020 peak of 22.9 million — representing a 73% reduction. Santiment emphasized that reduced exchange inventory translates to fewer coins available for immediate selling, which can magnify price volatility when demand accelerates.
Exchange-Traded Fund Activity and Corporate Positioning
United States-based spot ETH ETFs registered $197.1 million in net inflows during the previous week, while BTC ETFs experienced $462.7 million in net outflows, based on data from SoSoValue.
BitMine Chairman Thomas Lee highlighted that the ETH/BTC ratio has climbed to its strongest level since January 30 this year, characterizing it as an emerging upward trend. He credited Ethereum’s central position in Wall Street’s tokenization initiatives and agentic AI applications.
However, Bitfinex analysts present an alternative interpretation. They suggest that substantial ETH ETF demand stems primarily from “cash and carry” arbitrage strategies, where market participants leverage ETH ETF holdings as collateral for CME futures trading while simultaneously capturing yield. They reference a $255 million ETH short squeeze that occurred last Friday as supporting evidence that recent price movement reflects strategic positioning rather than organic spot market demand.
Legislative Development Creates Additional Catalyst
Market analyst Ted Pillows observed via social media that ETH was unable to secure a weekly close above $2,550. He indicated that should the Clarity Act secure passage this week, he anticipates ETH will breach $2,550 resistance, potentially setting the stage for a rally toward $3,000.
The procedural vote on the Clarity Act is scheduled for Tuesday. This legislation could facilitate expanded stablecoin usage and DeFi integration across the United States. Prediction market Polymarket shows passage probability for 2026 has increased from 14% to 31%.
The Federal Open Market Committee convenes this week as well. Approximately 87% of market analysts forecast a 25 basis point interest rate increase. Federal Reserve guidance regarding subsequent rate policy will receive significant attention from market participants.
Examining on-chain metrics, Ethereum’s MVRV Ratio currently registers at -5%. Historical patterns indicate that when this indicator transitions above zero following bear market conditions, it has typically signaled the commencement of bullish market cycles.
From a daily chart perspective, ETH is encountering resistance at the $2,544 level. The Relative Strength Index stands at 63, while the 50-day and 200-day exponential moving averages are converging toward a golden cross pattern. Subsequent resistance targets above current levels are positioned at $2,626 and $2,786.
