TLDR
- Infosys heads into earnings with investors closely watching underlying organic growth trends.
- Revenue is expected to rise, supported partly by recent acquisitions and integration benefits.
- Margins are projected to remain stable despite cautious enterprise technology spending.
- Guidance and management commentary could determine the stock’s next directional move.
Infosys (NYSE: INFY) heads into its latest quarterly earnings announcement under growing investor scrutiny, with expectations for solid headline revenue growth offset by concerns that much of the expansion is being driven by acquisitions rather than stronger client demand.
While analysts anticipate another quarter of double-digit year-over-year revenue growth, market participants are expected to focus on whether the Indian IT services giant is generating meaningful organic momentum in an environment where enterprise technology budgets remain restrained.
The company is scheduled to report its results after Indian markets close on Thursday, July 23, with investors also awaiting management’s outlook on demand trends, deal activity, and fiscal year guidance.
Revenue Growth Under Scrutiny
Brokerage estimates point to quarterly revenue between ₹480.9 billion and ₹486.6 billion, representing annual growth of approximately 13.7% to 14.9%. Net profit is also expected to improve, with forecasts ranging from ₹80.5 billion to ₹81.7 billion, reflecting year-over-year growth of roughly 16% to 18%.
Despite these healthy headline figures, analysts believe underlying business momentum remains relatively modest. Estimates suggest sequential organic revenue growth of only around 0.9% to 1.0%, indicating that much of the reported expansion could stem from recently completed acquisitions rather than stronger spending from existing clients.
Constant-currency revenue growth is projected at approximately 2.0% to 2.2% quarter over quarter, with acquisitions expected to account for a meaningful portion of that increase.
That distinction has become increasingly important for investors evaluating whether Infosys is successfully navigating a global environment where many companies continue prioritizing cost optimization projects over large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
Acquisition Benefits In Focus
Several analysts expect recent acquisitions to provide a noticeable lift to quarterly performance.
Some estimates suggest acquisition-related contributions could add between 0.8 and 1.0 percentage point to sequential growth, while the recently acquired Optimum Healthcare business is expected to contribute further to annual revenue expansion.
Although acquisition-driven growth strengthens reported financial results, investors will likely separate those gains from the company’s underlying operational performance when assessing the sustainability of future earnings.
Any improvement in full-year guidance could therefore receive a mixed reaction if investors conclude that higher forecasts primarily reflect merger integration rather than stronger organic demand.
Management commentary on cross-selling opportunities, customer retention, and integration progress will likely play an important role in shaping market sentiment after the earnings release.
Stock Trails Industry Peers
Ahead of the earnings announcement, Infosys shares have underperformed the broader Indian technology sector.
Since July 16, the stock has fallen approximately 2.8%, compared with a decline of roughly 0.6% for the Nifty IT index during the same period. On Wednesday, Infosys shares closed at ₹1,052.10, down nearly 2% for the session.
The company’s American depositary receipts also weakened, falling about 1.75% to $10.93. Even after the recent recovery across technology stocks, Infosys remains approximately 39% below its February high.
Peer performance has been relatively stronger. Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, and Wipro all posted smaller declines heading into earnings, although recent quarterly reports across the sector have painted a mixed picture.
TCS and HCLTech both delivered revenue ahead of analyst expectations, while Wipro reported weaker-than-expected revenue and profit alongside softer deal wins. Those contrasting results have increased attention on Infosys’ ability to demonstrate stable execution and sustained client demand.
Guidance May Drive Market Reaction
Beyond the quarterly numbers themselves, investors are expected to focus heavily on management’s forward guidance.
Infosys currently projects fiscal 2027 constant-currency revenue growth of 1.5% to 3.5%, while maintaining an operating margin target between 20% and 22%. Some analysts believe the upper end of the growth outlook could eventually improve toward 4%, supported by acquisition-related contributions.
However, investors will likely seek evidence that underlying demand is improving independently of mergers.
Earlier this year, Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka acknowledged that clients remain cautious with technology spending, noting that businesses continue prioritizing efficiency and cost-saving initiatives over broader transformation programs. The company also previously indicated relatively flat volume expectations, highlighting the challenges facing the global IT services sector.
Macroeconomic conditions remain another variable. Higher energy prices, currency fluctuations, geopolitical uncertainty, AI-related pricing pressure, and potential delays in customer projects could all influence business activity during the coming quarters.
As a result, Thursday’s earnings report may be less about headline revenue growth and more about whether Infosys can demonstrate improving organic demand, stable profitability, and a stronger pipeline of new business that supports sustainable long-term expansion.
