Marvell (MRVL) shares traded down approximately 0.9% in Wednesday’s premarket session near $260.14 following Tuesday’s 1.9% advance that closed at $262.36. The chipmaker has soared roughly 209% year-to-date in 2026, prompting analysts to examine whether current valuations adequately reflect embedded growth expectations.
Marvell Technology, Inc., MRVL
Seaport Research Partners launched coverage on Marvell with a Buy recommendation and $270 price objective. While analyst Jay Goldberg’s target implies modest 3% appreciation from Tuesday’s closing level, his investment case emphasizes sustained expansion in AI-driven data-center infrastructure.
Goldberg spotlighted Marvell’s optical interconnect capabilities and custom chip operations as two segments well-positioned to capitalize on accelerating AI infrastructure investments. These divisions have gained strategic importance as hyperscale cloud providers construct increasingly large and sophisticated data centers.
Data-Center Operations Now Command Three-Quarters of Revenue
Marvell recorded $6.1 billion from data-center operations during fiscal 2026, representing 74% of consolidated revenue. This marks a substantial shift from fiscal 2024, when this segment contributed just 40% of total sales.
This momentum has extended into fiscal 2027. Second-quarter revenue climbed 37% year-over-year to $2.74 billion, propelled by a 46% surge in data-center sales fueled by AI-related demand.
Optical connectivity represents a critical component of this growth trajectory. Marvell indicated its optical interconnect division has expanded at approximately a 50% compound annual growth rate across five years and currently comprises roughly half of data-center revenue.
Custom silicon development has similarly accelerated, now constituting about 25% of data-center revenue. Marvell engineers specialized processors for major cloud customers who increasingly seek customized alternatives to conventional commodity chips.
Google stands at the center of this opportunity. Marvell announced in August an expanded commercial partnership with Google spanning multiple products within the TPU ecosystem, encompassing AI inference accelerators, networking semiconductors and memory-related components.
The arrangement also featured a warrant enabling Google to acquire up to approximately 59 million Marvell shares at $206.58 per share, contingent upon specific vesting requirements.
Analyst Community Eyes Fiscal 2030 Revenue Potential
Seaport joins other Wall Street firms highlighting Marvell’s extended AI growth runway. Morgan Stanley recently lifted its price objective to $268 from $246 while maintaining an Equal Weight stance.
Morgan Stanley anticipates Marvell’s October 6 investor day may outline a trajectory toward exceeding $40 billion in fiscal 2030 revenue. The firm views Google custom silicon initiatives and associated scale-up products as significant potential contributors, though this represents analyst projections rather than official company targets.
Marvell additionally broadened its manufacturing collaboration with GlobalFoundries last week to boost production capacity for optical connectivity solutions deployed in AI data centers. MRVL shares jumped more than 6% that session as market participants responded favorably to the news.
The primary investment consideration remains valuation following the stock’s approximately 209% year-to-date surge. Marvell also faces meaningful dependence on consistent hyperscaler capital expenditures, flawless execution of custom chip initiatives and uninterrupted AI networking demand growth.
Currently, Seaport’s coverage launch provides another constructive analyst perspective but suggests constrained near-term upside from present levels. The stock edged below $261 in Wednesday’s premarket activity following Tuesday’s 1.9% rally.
