The Pepe memecoin has experienced consecutive daily rallies of 11% on both Wednesday and Thursday, pushing its seven-day performance to an impressive 25%. The cryptocurrency now trades comfortably above both its 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), with technical momentum indicators displaying bullish signals.

With a current market capitalization of $1.19 billion, PEPE ranks as the fourth-largest memecoin by valuation. Prior to this week’s breakout, the token had traded sideways for approximately 30 days.
Thursday witnessed seven substantial transfers, each valued above $1 million. Data from Santiment indicates this represents the highest volume of whale-level transactions observed since March 16.
The amount of PEPE tokens stored on centralized exchanges has declined notably. From August 12 to present, exchange balances decreased from 82.75 trillion to 81.30 trillion tokens. Simultaneously, the largest non-exchange wallet holdings expanded from 80.50 trillion to 84.04 trillion PEPE.
This migration of supply away from exchanges into substantial private wallets during price consolidation typically indicates strategic accumulation by institutional or high-net-worth buyers.
Futures Markets Display Bullish Sentiment
Open Interest in PEPE perpetual futures contracts surged from $209 million to $250 million, representing the highest level in three months. The OI-weighted funding rate currently stands at 0.0095%, indicating that long position holders are willing to pay a premium to maintain their exposure.
Prior to the current rally, the perpetual futures market experienced approximately $17 million in capital outflows across 15 days. This trend has now completely reversed. Aggregate perpetual contract inflows have reached approximately $84.44 million, with net positive inflow standing at $1.10 million.

CoinMarketCap’s sentiment analysis tool assigned PEPE a score of 4.89, categorizing market sentiment as very bullish.
Spot Trading Shows Mixed Signals
Activity in the spot market remains less enthusiastic. From August 18 through August 19, net PEPE sales amounted to $2.65 million. Approximately $2.31 million of this selling pressure occurred on August 19 exclusively.
Over the most recent 24-hour period, spot market net accumulation has measured approximately $660,170. While this represents positive buying activity, it has not yet fully counterbalanced the preceding sell-off.
From a technical analysis perspective, PEPE has successfully breached the June 15 peak of $0.00000314. The subsequent resistance level under observation is the 200-day EMA positioned at $0.00000363. A decisive move above this threshold could establish a pathway toward the May 10 high of $0.00000459.

The MACD indicator has generated a bullish crossover, with its signal line now positioned below the MACD line in positive territory. A fresh bullish histogram has emerged above the zero baseline.
Sustained growth in spot market demand would provide critical confirmation that the current rally maintains substantial support beyond speculative futures trading activity.
