Solana (SOL) experienced a 3.37% pullback to $96.97 on the eve of the U.S. Senate’s scheduled CLARITY Act vote, set for September 15 at 2:15 p.m. ET. The legislative decision holds significant implications for whether Solana and comparable digital assets will receive classification as digital commodities under the regulatory frameworks of the SEC and CFTC.

The proposed bill faces a procedural threshold of 60 Senate votes to proceed to floor debate. Given that Republicans hold 53 seats, passage would require support from a minimum of seven lawmakers from Democratic or independent caucuses.
Market participants adopted a cautious stance before the vote, driving SOL beneath the psychologically important $100 threshold. The cryptocurrency sector broadly retreated 0.79%, bringing the aggregate market capitalization to $2.63 trillion.
Anton Kharitonov, a technical strategist at Traders Union, characterized SOL’s current positioning as “technically weak,” citing dominant bearish forces. He explained: “Until SOL reclaims $100.32 and legislative transparency materializes, I maintain a defensive posture without interest in long exposure.” His primary outlook anticipates lateral or declining price movement as both chart patterns and regulatory ambiguity pressure the token.
Critical Price Zones Under Scrutiny
SOL currently trades beneath its 20-day moving average at $100.51 and 50-day moving average at $101.38, with both serving as overhead resistance barriers. The 200-day moving average at $83.30 provides long-term foundational support. The Relative Strength Index registers 33.81, while Stochastic RSI, CCI, and Bull/Bear Power indicators all reflect oversold conditions.
The anticipated short-term price corridor spans from $92.51 to $101.43. A breakdown beneath $92.51 could trigger intensified selling activity, whereas a sustained close above $100.32 would be necessary to confirm any bullish trend reversal.
Meanwhile, technical analyst Trader Tardigrade observed on X that SOL had made contact with the lower boundary of a bull flag formation on daily timeframes, indicating the pattern might still facilitate upward movement if current price levels hold firm.
Exchange-Traded Fund Activity Provides Stability
Notwithstanding the price deterioration, Solana-linked ETFs captured $11.01 million in net daily capital on September 14. Bitwise’s BSOL product dominated with $7.10 million, while Grayscale’s GSOL contributed $3.91 million. Total accumulated Solana ETF inflows reached $1.37 billion, with aggregate net assets standing at $1.46 billion.

The wider cryptocurrency ETF ecosystem demonstrated resilience as well. Weekly aggregate inflows totaled $1.3 billion, representing the sixth consecutive week of positive capital movement. Cumulative inflows throughout this period reached $6.8 billion, with BlackRock’s IBIT product alone contributing $3.4 billion.
For SOL to mount a meaningful recovery, buyers must establish a definitive four-hour candle close above $110. Inability to defend $100 would expose the $95 level, which provided support during the late-August rebound.
