Shares of SoundHound AI (SOUN) skyrocketed 26% during after-hours Wednesday trading following the release of its most impressive quarterly performance to date as a publicly traded entity.
Second quarter 2026 revenue totaled $61.9 million, marking a 45% increase from the same period last year and substantially exceeding the Street’s estimate of approximately $52.4 million. Pre-market trading saw the stock hovering around $8.08, a notable improvement from its 52-week trough of $5.65.
The company reported an adjusted loss per share of just $0.02. Analysts had projected losses between $0.12 and $0.13 per share. This substantial variance between forecasted and actual results played a major role in driving the stock’s impressive movement.
SoundHound wrapped up the quarter holding $203 million in cash with zero debt obligations. This strong financial position helped ease investor anxieties regarding the company’s balance sheet health.
Leadership increased the bottom range of its annual 2026 revenue projection. The updated forecast now stands at $230 million to $260 million, with a midpoint of $245 million surpassing the analyst consensus estimate of $232.8 million.
Chief Executive Keyvan Mohajer highlighted that Q2 revenue now represents a tenfold increase compared to when SoundHound became a public company during Q2 2022. He attributed this growth to rising demand for voice-enabled and agentic AI solutions.
Major Enterprise Contracts Fuel Momentum
The quarter’s performance was bolstered by widespread enterprise adoption of the company’s OASYS agentic AI platform. This included securing multiple seven-figure contracts within the healthcare and automotive industries.
Additionally, the firm finalized an eight-figure, multi-year channel partnership covering more than 20 countries throughout Latin America. This extensive geographical footprint plays a crucial role in the company’s revenue expansion narrative.
Forecasts may receive another adjustment following the completion of the LivePerson acquisition. Leadership indicated openness to potentially revising guidance upward if the integration process proceeds successfully.
Stock Had Struggled Before Wednesday’s Surge
Wednesday’s dramatic rally follows a challenging period. Prior to this movement, SOUN had declined approximately 35% year-to-date.
Market confidence suffered earlier in 2026 when Nvidia divested its position in SoundHound. The loss of this high-profile investor removed a notable valuation prop.
Questions surrounding the timeline to achieving profitability also pressured shares. The LivePerson deal introduced fresh uncertainties regarding potential shareholder dilution and execution challenges before any financial benefits materialize.
The broader equity market provided little support on Wednesday. The Nasdaq posted modest losses, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones barely stayed positive. This performance was entirely SoundHound-driven.
All four sell-side analysts tracking SOUN maintain Buy ratings. Their average one-year price objective stands at $12.75, suggesting approximately 98% potential upside from current trading levels.
SoundHound expects to finalize the LivePerson transaction, which may prompt an additional guidance revision.
