This rally concluded an impressive month for the cryptocurrency-focused company. MSTR shares appreciated 47.65%—roughly 48% when rounded—during the 30-day window ending Sept. 18.
This performance positioned Strategy atop the most recent Nasdaq-100 index constituent performance chart. The stock had settled at $104.25 on Aug. 19 before its climb to $153.92 thirty days later.
Trading volumes also spiked significantly on Friday. Approximately 54.3 million shares changed hands, substantially exceeding typical daily transaction levels.
Cryptocurrency Resurgence Fuels MSTR Momentum
Bitcoin advanced over 5% Friday, breaking through the $80,000 barrier during the trading day. Digital asset-related equities similarly rallied alongside broader Nasdaq gains.
Strategy has consistently demonstrated amplified volatility compared to Bitcoin during significant cryptocurrency price movements. Friday’s session illustrated this pattern, with MSTR advancing 16% while Bitcoin gained approximately 5% to 6%.
This amplification effect remained evident throughout the broader monthly timeframe. MSTR’s 48% appreciation significantly exceeded Bitcoin’s corresponding period return.
The company’s cryptocurrency reserves continue driving equity price dynamics. Strategy’s most recent disclosure on Sept. 13 confirmed holdings of approximately 845,050 BTC.
These digital assets were accumulated at a combined expenditure of $63.73 billion, encompassing all associated fees and transaction costs. The aggregate average acquisition price calculated to roughly $75,412 per Bitcoin.
Strategy’s latest verified purchase involved 4,603 BTC for approximately $369.7 million. This transaction elevated the company’s total position to the current 845,050 BTC figure.
Social Media Post Suggests Potential Acquisition Activity
Between Sept. 8 and Sept. 13, Strategy conducted no Bitcoin transactions—neither purchases nor sales—according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings. The company similarly executed no equity sales through its at-the-market offering program during this window.
The firm has instead allocated capital toward repurchasing STRC preferred stock. Between Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, Strategy deployed $176.3 million to acquire 1.81 million STRC units.
An additional $139.3 million was directed toward STRC buybacks in the subsequent reporting interval. As of Sept. 13, Strategy maintained $5.10 billion in its USD Reserve alongside approximately $1.30 billion in separate USD Cash holdings.
The Bitcoin acquisition hiatus may be concluding. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor published a cryptic message Sunday stating “A little more orange” accompanied by a visualization depicting Strategy’s historical Bitcoin accumulation trajectory.
Saylor has previously utilized similar social media communications ahead of formal purchase announcements. However, no official Bitcoin transaction disclosure has materialized to date.
Strategy’s forthcoming regulatory filing will reveal whether the company expanded its Bitcoin position during the past week. Pending that disclosure, the most recent confirmed balance remains 845,050 BTC.
