Military Exchanges Between US and Iran Enter Ninth Day
The United States and Iran conducted military operations against one another for the ninth consecutive evening. The renewed hostilities emerged after a temporary ceasefire arrangement, established approximately four weeks earlier, broke down.
The military confrontations have concentrated around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, through which significant volumes of global petroleum shipments transit. The disruptions have contributed to elevated energy commodity prices and heightened concerns regarding inflationary pressures.
Brent crude momentarily surged past the $90 threshold before settling near $88.16. Iranian authorities subsequently indicated willingness to pursue diplomatic engagement guided by national priorities, which helped ease some market concerns.
According to Nick Rees, who leads macro research at Monex Europe, financial markets have become increasingly accustomed to managing diverse risk factors. He noted that volatility levels would likely continue declining unless unexpected developments emerge.

The common European currency traded relatively unchanged at $1.1441. Market positioning continues ahead of Thursday’s European Central Bank policy gathering, where policymakers are anticipated to maintain borrowing costs at 2.25%.
