Shares of Amer Sports (NYSE: AS) experienced a significant 6.60% surge in pre-market activity on Tuesday following the release of second-quarter financial results that exceeded analyst projections on all key metrics.
The company’s adjusted earnings per share reached $0.22, outperforming Wall Street’s consensus estimate by $0.11. Total sales climbed to $1.63 billion, substantially exceeding the anticipated $1.54 billion figure.
The positive market reaction stemmed from the company’s decisive beat on both revenue and profitability metrics, combined with an upward revision to future guidance that energized investor sentiment.
Quarterly sales expanded by 32% compared to the same period last year, representing 30% growth when calculated on a constant-currency basis. This expansion was uniformly distributed across all business units and geographical markets, demonstrating the type of comprehensive strength that typically attracts market interest.
The Technical Apparel division saw revenue increase by 32%, with Arc’teryx recording a 17% omni-comp performance. The Outdoor Performance segment was the clear leader with 37% growth, powered primarily by Salomon Softgoods. Meanwhile, Ball & Racquet expanded by 24%, driven by Wilson Tennis 360’s performance.
CEO James Zheng commented: “All segments, geographies, and channels achieved strong double-digit growth led by another exceptional quarter from Salomon Softgoods, a strong Arc’teryx omni-comp, and a Wilson Tennis 360 acceleration.”
Profitability Metrics Show Substantial Improvement
The company’s adjusted operating margin reached 12.8%, representing an impressive 730 basis point expansion compared to the prior-year quarter. This figure incorporated a 390 basis point benefit attributable to net tariff refunds.
When excluding the tariff-related benefit, the core operating margin still expanded by over 300 basis points. This indicates the profitability enhancement reflects genuine operational improvements rather than temporary accounting adjustments.
CFO Andrew Page noted that the strategic investments the organization has been executing are “paying off in the form of strong momentum across our three largest opportunities: Arc’teryx, Salomon Softgoods, and Wilson Tennis 360.”
Management Elevates Full-Year Financial Targets
In response to the strong Q2 performance, Amer Sports upgraded its full-year 2026 financial projections. The revised adjusted EPS range of $1.27 to $1.30 places the midpoint at $1.29, comfortably above the $1.26 analyst consensus figure.
The company’s full-year revenue growth forecast was increased to approximately 24%. Additionally, the adjusted operating margin outlook was enhanced to a range of 14.2% to 14.5%.
Looking ahead to Q3, executives provided guidance for adjusted EPS between $0.31 and $0.33, along with anticipated revenue growth of 18% to 20%.
Management continues to highlight Arc’teryx, Salomon Softgoods, and Wilson Tennis 360 as the three strategic growth engines expected to fuel performance throughout the remainder of the fiscal year.
Amer Sports closed the previous session at $32.57, with pre-market activity indicating a 6.60% increase in response to the quarterly earnings announcement.
