Shares of Strategy (MSTR) moved higher during early Monday sessions following news that the firm successfully raised approximately $263 million via common stock offerings last weekāall while maintaining its entire bitcoin position.
During pre-market hours, the stock showed gains of roughly 1.2%, trading at $96, as bitcoin itself experienced a modest weekend uptick to approximately $64,700.
A recent regulatory disclosure reveals that Strategy offloaded more than 2.7 million shares of MSTR common stock via its at-the-market offering mechanism, bringing in around $263.5 million in gross proceeds.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor of Strategy announced Monday that the corporation’s dollar-denominated reserves have reached $3.225 billion. Meanwhile, the firm’s cryptocurrency treasury holds steady at 843,775 BTC, currently valued near $55 billion based on prevailing market rates.
This capital injection provides Strategy with additional financial flexibility to service dividend commitments without liquidating any portion of its digital asset portfolioāa delicate financial equilibrium the organization has been maintaining.
Since the beginning of 2026, MSTR has declined 38%. An extended downturn in bitcoin markets has created challenges for the company’s complex capital framework, which features dividend-bearing preferred shares requiring consistent cash outflows.
The Logic Behind Equity Sales Over Bitcoin Liquidation
Earlier last month, Strategy greenlit the potential sale of up to $1.25 billion worth of its cryptocurrency holdings to strengthen liquidity and support dividend distributions. Simultaneously, the board authorized as much as $2 billion in share repurchase programs, divided equally between preferred and common equity.
However, despite receiving that approval, Strategy has maintained its BTC balance unchanged for the previous two weeks. The company did liquidate approximately 2,225 bitcoin in early Julyāgenerating roughly $216 millionāmarking its first significant cryptocurrency divestment following years of relentless accumulation.
This transaction represented a meaningful departure for an organization that constructed its corporate identity around persistent bitcoin acquisition beginning in August 2020.
Back in February 2025, Saylor declared on X: “Never sell your bitcoin.” This philosophy remained unbroken for years until current fiscal realities necessitated strategic adjustments.
Prioritizing Liquidity Reserves
Toward the end of last year, Strategy established a designated cash pool specifically for servicing interest obligations and dividend distributions tied to its preferred equity. This reserve has expanded to $3.225 billion following the most recent capital raise.
For the second consecutive week, Strategy opted to generate funds through equity offerings rather than cryptocurrency sales.
The organization’s approach appears centered on safeguarding its bitcoin treasury for the foreseeable future while tapping equity markets to satisfy immediate liquidity requirements.
Strategy maintains its position as the planet’s largest corporate bitcoin holder by a substantial margin, with 843,775 BTC in its possession.
Based on bitcoin’s current trading level around $64,700, this digital asset reserve carries a valuation approaching $55 billion.
