U.S. stock futures advanced in Wednesday’s pre-market trading as positive earnings from artificial intelligence companies lifted investor sentiment before the release of critical inflation figures.
The Nasdaq 100 futures contract jumped 0.5%. Futures tied to the S&P 500 climbed 0.2%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures remained largely unchanged.

The modest uptick came after major indices posted declines for two consecutive trading days. Market participants had been exercising caution while awaiting new economic information.
Robust AI Company Results Fuel Market Confidence
CoreWeave, Super Micro, and Lumentum each delivered quarterly earnings that surpassed Wall Street forecasts. The strong performance underscored persistent appetite for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to Deutsche Bank’s macro strategist Henry Allen, these results “led to renewed optimism on the AI trade.”
Super Micro specializes in server architecture for AI-powered data facilities. Lumentum produces optical networking components essential for rapid data transfer. CoreWeave operates as a cloud computing provider specializing in graphics processing unit workloads.
The earnings beats helped improve market sentiment during overnight trading, despite ongoing caution across broader equity markets.
July Inflation Data Takes Center Stage
Market attention has shifted squarely to Wednesday morning’s consumer price index release for July. Analyst consensus points to headline inflation reaching 3.4% on an annual basis, representing a decline from June’s 3.5% reading.
On a monthly basis, CPI is projected to increase 0.1%, reversing June’s 0.4% decrease. Core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy categories, is anticipated to advance 0.2% from the previous month.
The inflation reading carries substantial weight as the Federal Reserve contemplates its monetary policy direction ahead of the September policy meeting.
Recent cooling in employment data has already diminished market expectations for a September rate increase. However, an unexpectedly strong inflation figure could revive those possibilities.
With equity markets hovering near all-time peaks, traders remain highly attuned to any deviation from consensus forecasts.
Middle East Standoff Supports Crude Prices
Geopolitical uncertainty continues to influence market dynamics. Negotiations between Washington and Tehran regarding Strait of Hormuz access have reached an impasse.
Iranian officials are insisting on unfrozen assets and American disengagement from regional disputes. President Trump has countered by demanding reparations from Iran.
Brent crude extended its winning streak to six sessions, climbing toward the $90 threshold.
Houthi forces claimed responsibility for an assault on commercial vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait that resulted in six fatalitiesāfour cargo ship personnel and two Yemeni rescue workers. Additionally, the U.S. Navy neutralized a Panama-registered ship operating near the Gulf of Oman.
The convergence of diplomatic deadlock and renewed maritime attacks has maintained upward pressure on energy prices while heightening market anxiety ahead of the inflation report.
