Nvidia shares changed hands at $216.18 during Thursday’s session, slipping 0.31%, despite receiving fresh coverage from BMO Capital Markets featuring an Outperform recommendation and an aggressive $340 price objective.
BMO’s semiconductor analyst Harsh Kumar designated Nvidia as his firm’s preferred investment within an extensive roster of semiconductor and quantum computing companies that received inaugural coverage ratings on Thursday.
Kumar emphasized Nvidia’s integrated approachācombining both hardware infrastructure and software platformsāas the fundamental rationale behind the premium rating. The investment firm identifies what it describes as a “defensible end-to-end HW/SW moat” that appears undervalued by current market pricing.
The semiconductor leader currently commands an 18x forward price-to-earnings multiple, which BMO characterizes as attractive considering its financial model anticipating revenue expansion of 84% for fiscal year 2027 and 50% for fiscal 2028.
BMO’s analysis also highlighted Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin NVL72 platform, scheduled to scale up during the latter half of this year, as an important near-term growth driver.
Customer appetite remains exceptionally robust. BMO’s research indicates that a significant portion of Nvidia’s manufacturing output has already been committed through contracts extending 12 months or longer into the future.
The company generated a gross profit margin of 74% alongside revenue growth of 71% during the trailing twelve-month period. Its current price-to-earnings ratio stands at 33.2.
Wall Street Maintains Positive Stance Before Upcoming Report
BMO’s bullish perspective joins a chorus of optimistic analyst opinions. Oppenheimer maintains an Outperform recommendation with a $265 valuation, pointing to advancements in Blackwell Ultra and VR200 technologies.
Stifel carries a Buy rating alongside a $282 objective, projecting that Nvidia will surpass consensus earnings projections and elevate future guidance. TD Cowen similarly maintains a Buy recommendation with a $275 target price.
Nvidia’s upcoming second-quarter financial results will serve as an important validation point for these optimistic Wall Street forecasts.
BMO Extends Positive Outlook to Broadcom, AMD, and Marvell
BMO’s constructive semiconductor thesis extended beyond Nvidia. Broadcom earned an Outperform rating accompanied by a $455 price target, with BMO positioning it as the second-largest AI infrastructure provider after Nvidia, powered by custom ASIC solutions and networking technology.
AMD secured an Outperform designation with a $550 objective. BMO highlighted that AMD’s Helios rack architecture has attracted three major clients: OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic.
Marvell garnered an Outperform rating with a $250 price target. Semtech similarly received Outperform status with a $155 objective.
Within the analog semiconductor category, BMO assigned Outperform ratings to Analog Devices, Impinj, and Microchip Technology, establishing price targets of $430, $220, and $95 respectively. The firm believes analog chipmakers are recovering from post-pandemic headwinds, citing strengthening PMI indicators, normalized channel inventories, and expanding order backlogs.
D-Wave secured an Outperform rating alongside a $35 price objective within the quantum computing sector.
InvestingPro’s current analysis characterizes Nvidia as trading below its intrinsic value according to Fair Value metrics, earning inclusion on the platform’s undervalued equities watchlist. Moody’s maintains an Aa1 credit rating with a positive trajectory, while S&P assigns an AA issuer credit ratingāboth assessments were reaffirmed following Nvidia’s announcement of a $105 billion investment commitment to construct an AI data center facility in Pike County, Ohio.
