Meta Platforms (META) is currently changing hands at approximately $605.72, gaining $2.60 during today’s session, as two encouraging developments spotlight the tech giant’s artificial intelligence infrastructure expansion.
During this week’s Mad Money broadcast, Jim Cramer highlighted Meta’s strategic shift, characterizing the company’s entrance into the neocloud sector as an intelligent business decision. After years of being among the largest purchasers of computing resources, Meta is now positioning itself as a supplier.
The strategic announcement triggered volatility among competitors. Shares of established neocloud providers dropped last week following Meta’s disclosure that it would compete directly in their market segment.
Cramer challenged the pessimistic interpretation. He contended that the ability to lease computing power at premium rates demonstrates insufficient data center availability rather than excess supply. META shares have appreciated roughly $50 since the strategy was unveiled.
Analyst Increases Capital Expenditure Projection
Wolfe Research reaffirmed its Outperform stance on META this Thursday, maintaining its $800 valuation target. The stock currently trades substantially beneath that level at approximately $605.72 — representing a decline from its 52-week peak of $796.25.
The more significant adjustment involved the firm’s capital expenditure outlook. Wolfe now anticipates Meta will allocate $220 billion toward infrastructure during fiscal 2027, a substantial increase from its previous capacity projection of $15 billion. This forecast considerably surpasses the Street’s consensus expectation of $160 billion or higher.
Wolfe has also elevated its capacity projection, now forecasting Meta will possess roughly 17 gigawatts of capacity in the coming year, up from its earlier 15 gigawatt estimate.
The research house had previously indicated that Meta would likely increase capital expenditures and might pursue additional financing through debt instruments or equity offerings to support these investments.
For the 2026 fiscal period, Meta’s capex is forecast at $125–$145 billion, marking a considerable jump from previous projections. Wolfe emphasized that Meta must demonstrate to shareholders clear and sustainable revenue streams beyond advertising to warrant such aggressive spending.
Meta presently maintains a return on invested capital of 25% alongside a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.36.
Canadian Facility Launch and Advertising Platform Enhancements
Regarding infrastructure development, Meta recently commenced construction on a new data center in Sturgeon County, Alberta — marking its inaugural Canadian facility and 33rd worldwide. The site is designed specifically for AI operations, encompasses an investment exceeding CAD $13 billion, and is projected to generate approximately 3,000 construction positions plus over 300 permanent employment opportunities.
Meta is simultaneously incorporating its Muse Image model into its Advantage+ creative advertising platform, enhancing the system with visual reasoning capabilities and self-refinement functionality for ad content generation.
Erste Group elevated META from Hold to Buy this week, referencing the company’s artificial intelligence investment trajectory. Truist Securities maintained its Buy recommendation, emphasizing Meta’s AI distribution capabilities through the Muse Spark platform.
Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg has publicly recognized that AI agent development has progressed more gradually than initially anticipated. In related news, investor Michael Burry has established short positions targeting AI infrastructure equities.
Meta stock is trading at $605.72, with Wolfe Research’s $800 valuation target suggesting approximately 32% potential upside from present price levels.
