Salesforce (CRM) announced Wednesday that its Missionforce national security division has been chosen by the U.S. Air Force to upgrade management of its $13.5 billion vehicle operations.
The 441st Vehicle Support Chain Operations Squadron—referred to as VSCOS—will deploy the system to oversee a fleet exceeding 84,000 vehicles distributed across approximately 389 global sites.
Shares of CRM traded slightly down during Wednesday’s premarket session.
VSCOS bears responsibility for maintaining operational readiness of the Air Force’s worldwide vehicle assets. The squadron implemented multiple IL5-certified applications running on Salesforce Government Cloud Plus Defense during this transition.
The objective is clear: minimize vehicle downtime, optimize logistical workflows, and guarantee fleet availability for mission requirements.
Kendall Collins, who serves as CEO of Missionforce and Government Cloud at Salesforce, described the initiative as a powerful demonstration of the platform’s capabilities when properly deployed.
“By consolidating onto a single, interoperable platform with Missionforce National Security, the Air Force has turned fragmented logistics operations into a strategic advantage,” Collins said.
Collins emphasized that the implementation has delivered “improved visibility for commanders, reduced service downtime, and helping ensure vehicles are ready to roll when the call comes.”
Prior to this modernization effort, the squadron’s logistics workflows were scattered across multiple disconnected systems. The Salesforce migration has now created a unified data infrastructure throughout the organization.
Understanding the Missionforce Platform
Missionforce National Security represents Salesforce’s specialized solution tailored for defense and national security agencies. The platform operates on Salesforce Government Cloud Plus Defense, satisfying IL5 security standards required for handling classified government information.
The application suite was engineered from the ground up for mission-critical defense operations rather than being retrofitted from commercial products.
The Air Force’s 441st VSCOS handles everything from scheduling preventive maintenance to guaranteeing operational readiness across every location. Managing that scope—84,000 vehicles across 389 facilities—demands a robust system capable of coordinating countless variables seamlessly.
Future AI Capabilities in Development
An understated yet significant element of this agreement involves the unified data infrastructure that now serves as preparation for upcoming AI integrations.
Salesforce hasn’t disclosed precise details regarding potential AI functionalities or implementation timelines. However, consolidating operations onto a single platform represents an essential foundation for such advanced capabilities.
With all vehicle data now centralized under one system, the 441st VSCOS is positioned to leverage AI-powered predictive maintenance and logistics optimization tools down the road.
CRM stock showed modest declines in premarket trading Wednesday following the contract announcement.
