Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget is broadening its real-world asset (RWA) offerings with a new initiative designed to bridge traditional finance and digital markets. The platform has introduced a transfer mechanism for US-listed securities alongside an upgraded liquidity infrastructure.
The dual launch centers on tokenized representations of conventional stocks and exchange-traded funds, known within Bitget’s ecosystem as rTokens.
Both systems aim to streamline access to tokenized securities while addressing persistent liquidity challenges in the emerging sector.
Transfer Mechanism for Traditional Securities
Bitget’s newly introduced rToken Transfer allows investors to relocate eligible equity holdings from traditional brokerages into the exchange’s tokenized environment.
The capability extends across more than 3,000 different assets, eliminating the requirement for investors to liquidate positions before entering the tokenized marketplace.
Transfers execute through a Free of Payment (FOP) protocol, routing securities to an Alpaca omnibus account maintained by Bitget.
Following receipt and verification, the In-Kind Tokenization Network operated by Bitget processes the incoming shares and issues equivalent rTokens. These digital representations are subsequently credited to the account holder’s spot trading wallet.
This functionality forms part of Bitget’s Broker Interoperability initiative, which seeks to establish connections between conventional securities infrastructure and blockchain-based trading platforms.
Once converted, the tokenized assets become available for spot market activity. Subject to regulatory compliance, asset classification, and platform policies, certain rTokens may qualify for margin trading, lending protocols, borrowing facilities, and yield-generating products.
Gracy Chen, serving as Bitget’s CEO, characterized cross-market infrastructure as the defining factor in tokenization’s evolution. “Providing access to tokenized equities was a key starting point,” she noted.
“Now we’re focused on connecting existing brokerage assets with deeper liquidity and more flexible ways to deploy capital,” she added.
Liquidity Enhancement Through Super Match
Chen explained that while Broker Interoperability establishes asset migration pathways, Super Match addresses the operational challenges that follow.
The Super Match infrastructure aggregates trading activity on Bitget’s platform with market-making services and external liquidity providers. Its architecture targets improved order execution and more efficient price formation as trading volume in tokenized equities expands.
The system additionally enables transaction processing during periods when traditional equity markets remain closed.
According to Chen, this development represents a core component of Bitget’s “Universal Exchange” vision—an integrated trading environment encompassing both conventional financial instruments and digital assets.
She outlined the platform’s extended objectives to enhance the utility of tokenized equities for institutional participants and individual traders alike, including expanded collateral applications and integration with capital efficiency tools.
These initiatives build upon Bitget’s Reality RWA issuance infrastructure. Platform data from July 6 indicated rToken assets under management reached approximately $114 million, with transaction volume exceeding two million completions.
Bitget has scheduled October 13 as the official deployment date for rToken Transfer.
