Ripple has deepened its partnership with Brevan Howard, among the globe’s most prominent hedge funds. The blockchain company revealed that its brokerage division, Ripple Prime, will deliver comprehensive prime brokerage, clearing, and financing solutions for funds managed by Brevan Howard.
Ripple Prime represents the institutional trading and brokerage division that Ripple established following its acquisition of Hidden Road, a prime broker serving institutional clients. The platform caters to banks, hedge funds, and major investors conducting transactions across conventional and digital asset markets.
The two organizations already have history together. Entities affiliated with Brevan Howard participated in Ripple’s fundraising efforts last year, contributing to a $500 million financing round. That capital injection assigned Ripple a valuation of $40 billion.
Evolution of the Strategic Alliance
Ripple’s market capitalization subsequently climbed to $50 billion following the completion of a $750 million share buyback initiative earlier in the current year. Brevan Howard presently manages approximately $35 billion on behalf of its clients.
Alan McGroarty, serving as Group Chief Operating Officer at Brevan Howard, noted that the firm observes increasing client interest in infrastructure capable of bridging digital and conventional financial markets. According to McGroarty, Ripple’s technology platform is expected to deliver enhanced operational efficiency and improved capital utilization for the fund’s investment professionals.
Ripple characterized this agreement as addressing requirements from major asset managers seeking prime brokerage capabilities that span cryptocurrency and traditional financial instruments. The firm emphasized that its infrastructure functions within a compliance-focused regulatory structure designed specifically for enterprise-level customers.
Under the expanded arrangement, Brevan Howard will gain comprehensive access to Ripple Prime’s technology stack. This encompasses digital currencies including XRP and Ripple’s proprietary stablecoin product, RLUSD.
Recent Expansion of Ripple Prime
Ripple Prime has steadily introduced new functionalities over recent months. Last August, the division unveiled equity trading capabilities via its Delta One trading desk.
The Delta One desk enables institutional clients to execute total return swap agreements linked to U.S. stock markets. This offering targets hedge fund operators, market-making firms, and organizations that issue exchange-traded funds.
Earlier in the year, ratings agency KBRA assigned Ripple Prime a BBB credit rating. KBRA’s assessment noted that the operation remains in a growth phase while developing additional product offerings, including equity prime services and derivative instruments.
Ripple Prime also arranged a $200 million debt financing facility with Neuberger Berman. According to the company, these proceeds will support the expansion of margin lending programs for institutional borrowers.
In a recent development, Ripple Prime established connectivity with Hyperliquid, a decentralized trading protocol. This represents the platform’s inaugural direct integration with a DeFi marketplace.
The Brevan Howard agreement illustrates Ripple’s strategic focus on serving institutional investors seeking unified access to digital currencies and traditional financial assets through a single platform. Ripple has systematically developed these capabilities since completing the Hidden Road acquisition.
Brevan Howard’s dual role as both equity investor and service client demonstrates the fund’s strategic commitment to digital asset market infrastructure. The hedge fund initially supported Ripple during the previous year’s financing activity and has progressively deepened that commercial relationship.
Ripple has not disclosed specific timing for when the enhanced service offerings will become fully available to Brevan Howard. The company indicated that implementation will leverage the established working relationship between both organizations.
