Broadcom experienced a remarkable week filled with significant developments. The company’s latest chip unveiling, achievement of a $2 trillion market capitalization, and increased AI infrastructure investment from major technology companies created substantial momentum for AVGO shares.
On April 30, Broadcom introduced three cutting-edge chipsets targeting the residential broadband gateway market: the BCM68565 gateway system-on-chip alongside two dual-band Wi-Fi 8 radio processors, designated BCM67142 and BCM67192. These components merge 10G PON fiber connectivity capabilities with advanced Wi-Fi 8 wireless technology.
The BCM68565 platform delivers support for XGSPON, GPON, and Active Ethernet fiber transmission standards. The system incorporates a CPU architecture featuring open source middleware compatibility, a specialized network processing unit, and flexibility across DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4, and LPDDR5 memory configurations.
Both radio processors consolidate 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz frequency bands into unified chip architectures. Broadcom reports that the third-generation digital pre-distortion technology embedded in these processors reduces maximum power consumption by 25%. This integrated approach aims to lower overall component expenses and streamline circuit board design.
These products represent Broadcom’s fourth series of Wi-Fi 8 chip introductions. The chipsets are presently available for sampling with select early-stage customers. The company has not disclosed pricing details or commercial release timelines.
AVGO Achieves $2 Trillion Milestone
On April 22, AVGO momentarily reached a $2 trillion market capitalization as shares climbed toward $422. This advancement stemmed from expanding AI collaborations, notably a partnership with Google extending through 2031 and an Anthropic alliance anticipated to deliver approximately 3.5 gigawatts of computing power starting in 2027.
Broadcom’s first-quarter financial performance provided substantial momentum for investors. Total revenue climbed 29% year-over-year to $19.31 billion. Semiconductor division revenue reached $12.5 billion, representing a 52% increase, while AI semiconductor sales skyrocketed 106% to $8.4 billion.
Looking ahead to Q2, Broadcom projects semiconductor revenue of $14.8 billion, marking a 76% year-over-year jump. AI chip sales are anticipated to reach $10.7 billion, translating to 140% growth.
The semiconductor manufacturer now collaborates with six prominent AI customers on extended, multi-gigawatt infrastructure deployment strategies. Broadcom has established an ambitious goal of exceeding $100 billion in cumulative AI chip revenue by 2027.
First-quarter free cash flow totaled $8 billion, accounting for 41% of total revenue. The company distributed $10.9 billion to shareholders during the quarter through dividend payments and stock repurchases.
Technology Giant Capital Spending Provides Additional Support
Broadcom received further momentum from Big Tech earnings announcements. Meta elevated its 2025 capital investment forecast by $10 billion to a range spanning $125 billion to $145 billion. Microsoft and Alphabet similarly increased their capital expenditure projections.
Meta maintains semiconductor supply partnerships with Broadcom, Nvidia, and AMD. These elevated spending commitments from cloud infrastructure providers helped counterbalance earlier concerns triggered by reports suggesting OpenAI had fallen short of internal revenue expectations.
During premarket trading on April 30, AVGO shares advanced 1.4%.
Mizuho maintains an Outperform recommendation on AVGO with a $480 price objective. Among 42 analysts tracking the stock, 35 assign it a Strong Buy rating. The consensus price target stands at $469.94, with the highest projection reaching $630.
