Coinbase has announced it will revive its Coinbase Pro trading interface before 2026 concludes. The cryptocurrency exchange simultaneously confirmed that it has successfully integrated Deribit, the options trading venue it acquired in 2025.
This integration has resulted in the formation of Coinbase Global Exchange, a new consolidated entity. The announcement was made during the Token2049 conference in Singapore.
“For the first time in market history, we are connecting U.S. and international derivatives markets into a single liquidity pool,” Coinbase said.
Merging U.S. and International Derivatives Liquidity
Coinbase Financial Markets, operating as the company’s regulated futures commission merchant in the United States, will enable qualified American clients to tap into worldwide crypto derivatives liquidity. The company cited regulatory guidance from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission released in May as the framework permitting this integration.
The platform explained that institutional traders in the U.S. now have a compliant pathway to options contracts and perpetual futures products. Previously, accessing these instruments required establishing offshore corporate structures, working with multiple counterparties, and navigating separate trading platforms.
The exchange plans to introduce Deribit-enabled options products, spot margin capabilities, and unified portfolio management over the next several weeks. International traders meeting eligibility requirements will receive options access during the same rollout period.
Institutional customers based in the United States will trade Deribit options and perpetual futures contracts via Coinbase Prime. The company has already begun accepting applications, with options trading anticipated to launch within weeks.
According to Coinbase, institutional users will consolidate spot, futures, perpetuals, and options trading onto a single interface. They will additionally access custody solutions, financing options, and staking services through the same integrated platform.
Coinbase acquired Deribit, recognized as among the largest cryptocurrency options venues globally, for approximately $2.9 billion during August 2025. As of September 30, Deribit held more than $30 billion in open interest for bitcoin options alone, Coinbase reported.
The platform also handled over $1 trillion in total trading volume throughout the previous year, according to company figures.
Pro Platform Resurrection Brings Margin Capabilities
The revamped Coinbase Pro will accommodate trading across spot markets, futures contracts, perpetuals, options, and equities. Coinbase characterized the platform as having been “rebuilt from the ground up.”
The company promises enhanced order routing speed, optimized execution pathways, and sophisticated analytical tools. These features target high-volume professional traders implementing multi-layered strategies.
Coinbase discontinued the original Pro platform during 2022, migrating advanced trading functionality into its primary application. The transition to Coinbase Advanced reached completion in November 2023.
The exchange is also introducing spot margin trading capabilities. This feature will permit eligible users to borrow funds against their existing collateral to execute larger spot market positions.
Maximum leverage will reach 10 times for selected leading digital assets. Additional supported cryptocurrencies will offer leverage ratios up to five times.
Coinbase has deployed a new matching engine infrastructure and streamlined its client onboarding procedures. The platform has simultaneously revised the fee structure for Coinbase Advanced.
The updated fee tier system begins at $10,000 in qualifying trading volume. Both spot market transactions and derivatives positions count toward meeting this threshold.
Retail traders in the United States are projected to receive Deribit options access later in 2026, coinciding with the anticipated Coinbase Pro relaunch timeline.
