Meta confirmed that the same capability will also be extended to its standalone Meta AI application in the coming months.
Unlike standard AI interactions, incognito chats are intentionally temporary. As soon as a user exits the chat, the conversation is automatically erased, ensuring no historical record remains on the platform.

A key feature of the rollout is the automatic deletion of all messages once the session is closed. If a user exits the chat, locks their phone, or leaves the app, the AI session immediately ends and loses all contextual memory of the conversation.
This approach is designed to address rising concerns around data retention and AI privacy. By removing stored chat history, Meta is aiming to reduce risks associated with sensitive queries, including financial advice, personal health questions, or private decision-making discussions.
Built on Secure Infrastructure
Meta stated that the new feature is powered by its private processing architecture, which has been in development over the past year. This infrastructure allows AI features to operate while maintaining WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption principles.
According to WhatsApp product leadership, earlier AI tools relied on smaller models, but the new incognito experience uses Meta’s more advanced Muse Spark model.
