TLDR
- Sentora has deployed the first externally managed lending markets on Aave V4, operating on the Ethereum network.
- Three stablecoins—Ripple’s RLUSD, PayPal’s PYUSD, and Origin’s OUSD—are now available for borrowing against approved collateral.
- The Bluechip market enables stablecoin loans backed by kBTC, a Bitcoin-pegged digital asset.
- Contract ownership remains with Aave DAO, while risk-increasing modifications require a 48-hour delay period.
- Total deposits in Aave V4 surpassed $1 billion by September, with outstanding loans reaching $310 million.
Aave has introduced its inaugural externally managed lending markets through the V4 protocol. These markets operate under the supervision of Sentora, a decentralized finance platform focused on institutional services.
Three distinct markets are now live on the Ethereum blockchain. Each market enables participants to obtain stablecoin loans by pledging approved cryptocurrency collateral.
The available stablecoins include Ripple’s RLUSD, PayPal’s PYUSD, and Origin’s OUSD. Market access is provided via Aave Pro, the platform’s specialized interface designed for managed lending services.
Sentora determines the risk parameters for every market, specifying acceptable collateral types. Contract ownership stays with Aave DAO.
Structure of the Sentora-Managed Markets
The three markets pull liquidity from a centralized Sentora Liquidity Hub deployed on Ethereum. This Hub maintains the borrowable assets and distributes funds across connected markets.
The RLUSD Yield venue permits borrowing RLUSD using USDe, PRIME, mWIN, and PST as backing. The OUSD Yield venue accepts identical collateral options while dispensing OUSD loans.
The Bluechip market represents the third option, supporting loans in RLUSD, PYUSD, and OUSD secured by kBTC. This asset maintains a peg to Bitcoin.
Individual markets feature distinct lending terms. Sentora oversees collateral requirements, interest rate models, oracle pricing feeds, and liquidation parameters.
According to an October 22 research document, Sentora characterized this rollout as the first governance-sanctioned Hub and Spoke system operated by an external curator on Ethereum. Documentation also references a forthcoming PYUSD Yield market, though approved collateral remains unspecified.
Sentora previously engaged in stablecoin lending initiatives. Last August, the platform authorized FXRP as acceptable collateral within its RLUSD lending vault on Morpho.
Risk Management Framework in Aave V4
Aave V4 operates on a Hub and Spoke framework. Hubs maintain fund reserves and monitor deposited assets, while Spokes establish borrowing parameters and liquidation thresholds.
User positions remain isolated within individual Spokes. Collateral and outstanding debt in one market stay separate from holdings in alternative markets.
Borrowing rates fluctuate based partly on asset utilization ratios. V4 can implement risk premiums, resulting in elevated interest charges for borrowers using volatile collateral.
Modifications that increase market risk must undergo a 48-hour delay mechanism. Adding new collateral types requires Aave governance evaluation before activation.
Sentora reports allocating over $2 billion throughout onchain investment strategies. Its Risk Radar monitoring platform tracks more than 40 DeFi protocols spanning 12+ blockchain networks and now includes Aave V4.
The V4 infrastructure already supports additional offerings. Last September, Aave activated an equities market on Base accepting seven tokenized Coinbase stocks as collateral for USDC borrowing, with initial loan capacity capped at $21 million.
Aave Labs announced V4 deposits crossed the $1 billion threshold in September, accompanied by $310 million in outstanding borrowing activity.
Aave is currently evaluating an October 14 submission from Babylon Labs. The proposal would enable stablecoin borrowing secured by native Bitcoin stored in vaults on the Bitcoin blockchain, subject to governance authorization, final risk configuration, and security validation.
