Futures tied to the S&P 500 climbed 0.42%. Contracts on the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.31%. The Cboe Volatility Index futures increased 2.09%.
Sandisk emerged as the session’s most impressive premarket performer, surging 7.3%. Coherent Corp registered a 7.0% increase. MaxLinear, Western Digital, and Powell Industries each demonstrated advances exceeding 6%.
Among declining securities, First Citizens Bancshares Class A shares plunged 38.4% during preliminary trading hours. Equifax experienced an 11.2% decline.
Artificial Intelligence Sector Developments
Nebius shares appreciated 6% following Nvidia’s regulatory filing disclosing beneficial ownership of 9.3% in the artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure provider. This position encompasses the previously announced $2 billion strategic investment alongside 21.1 million shares tied to a purchase warrant originated in March.
Nvidia faces restrictions preventing warrant exercise or share disposition until September 11, 2026. Nevertheless, the regulatory disclosure strengthened market sentiment toward Nebius.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company advanced 4% after Nikkei Asia published a report indicating the semiconductor manufacturer intends to implement wafer price increases reaching 10% in 2027. Advanced node orders exceeding customer projections could incur an additional 10% to 15% premium. Legacy-node semiconductor pricing is similarly positioned for increases approaching 10%.
