Pantera Capital served as the lead investor in this financing round, joined by notable participants including Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto. All tokens acquired during this sale are locked for a mandatory 12-month holding period.
The capital injection will support the expansion of World ID, the platform’s innovative verification system designed to distinguish genuine human users from AI-powered bots and automated digital agents.
Understanding the World ID Technology
The World ID verification process relies on users providing biometric scans through a specialized hardware device known as the Orb. This Orb generates a unique digital credential that authenticates human identity while maintaining privacy by avoiding permanent storage of personal information.
According to World’s data, the network has attracted over 39 million registered participants. Among these users, more than 18 million have completed verification through an Orb scanning device. Since its inception, the platform has validated over 475 million World ID authentication requests.
The initiative was co-founded by OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman, working alongside Max Novendstern and Alex Blania, CEO of Tools for Humanity. The project has encountered regulatory challenges in multiple jurisdictions regarding its biometric information collection methodologies.
Pivoting Toward Enterprise Applications
World Network is transitioning from prioritizing user acquisition to emphasizing practical implementation. The newly raised capital will facilitate integration of its authentication technology into corporate software ecosystems and AI agent infrastructure.
“The necessity for Proof of Human verification is becoming increasingly urgent as AI technology advances rapidly,” stated Cosmo Jiang, General Partner at Pantera Capital.
This represents World’s second significant capital raise. The organization previously secured $135 million during May 2025 through a private token transaction involving a16z and Bain Capital Crypto.
The WLD token currently maintains a price point near $0.37, with overall market capitalization slightly above $1.3 billion.
This funding announcement arrives amid sustained growth in AI and cryptocurrency infrastructure investments. Paradigm announced a $1.2 billion fund in July targeting crypto, AI, and robotics ventures. Framework Ventures concluded a $400 million fundraise in June with comparable investment priorities.
Additionally, Coinbase has launched new capabilities enabling enterprises to process USDC payments from autonomous AI agents. The exchange reported that AI-driven traffic exceeded human visitor activity on its developer resources for the first time recently.
World’s most recent funding positions the organization prominently within the expanding effort to authenticate human presence online as distinguishing AI-created content becomes increasingly challenging.
