In its latest regulatory move, Grayscale has submitted a fourth amendment to its Form S-3 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, advancing its plans to launch a Zcash spot ETF. The investment vehicle is slated to trade on NYSE Arca under the symbol ZCSH, effectively transforming the current Grayscale Zcash Trust into an exchange-traded fund available to public investors.
According to details disclosed in the filing, DCG International Investments Ltd., operating as a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, is currently engaged in preliminary discussions to purchase roughly 200,000 ZEC tokens via the trust structure. Based on present market valuations, this transaction would represent an investment of approximately $110 million. However, these negotiations remain non-binding, indicating that final terms have not been solidified and the acquisition may not materialize as currently outlined.
The asset manager has yet to disclose specific details regarding management fees or any potential fee reduction strategies for this investment product. Similarly, no definitive launch date has been communicated to the market.
ETF Operational Structure
The proposed exchange-traded fund would operate utilizing cash-based mechanisms for both share creation and redemption processes. While in-kind share creations would remain available as an option, the revised framework explicitly prohibits in-kind redemption transactions.
This Zcash initiative represents one component of Grayscale’s expanding strategy to introduce cryptocurrency-focused exchange-traded products covering alternative digital assets. The company has recently submitted regulatory applications for investment vehicles tracking Avalanche, Hyperliquid, and Worldcoin.
The latest amendment filing specifically acknowledges the June Orchard vulnerability incident, a critical security weakness that impacted Zcash’s privacy-focused shielded transaction infrastructure. Following this discovery, the Ironwood protocol enhancement was implemented, permanently retiring the affected pool and introducing safeguards designed to prevent the creation of counterfeit ZEC tokens.
Market Performance and Trading Activity
ZEC demonstrated strong upward momentum with a price increase approaching 10% during the previous 24-hour trading period, with values hovering around the $555 threshold. Earlier session data indicated a 24-hour trading range spanning from $500.47 to $514.03, before strengthening later as positive sentiment built.

Market activity for ZCSH in its existing private trust configuration has experienced substantial contraction following its November 2025 peak that exceeded $23 million in trading volume. Since June 2026, the product has consistently recorded volumes below the $5 million threshold.
Data from CoinGlass indicates that open interest across ZEC futures contracts increased 1% to reach $928.22 billion during the past 24-hour period. Breaking down exchange-specific activity, Binance witnessed a 3.90% decline in futures open interest, contrasting with Hyperliquid’s 9% expansion. Meanwhile, OKX and KuCoin registered increases of 3.40% and 2.18% respectively.
Market observers have identified $520 as an immediate resistance threshold following the implementation of the Ironwood protocol enhancement, with a more significant resistance zone positioned around $550.
According to the latest available market data, ZEC is currently changing hands near the $555 price point.
