Cathie Wood’s investment firm ARK Invest has decreased its stake in both Palantir Technologies and Advanced Micro Devices while simultaneously boosting its investment in Archer Aviation.
Palantir Technologies Inc., PLTR
These portfolio adjustments were executed through ARK’s flagship investment vehicle, the ARK Innovation ETF.
The fund offloaded portions of its Palantir and AMD positions while acquiring approximately $3.35 million in Archer Aviation equity.
These strategic moves reflect ARK’s ongoing efforts to rebalance its exposure across technology sectors, artificial intelligence companies, and innovative transportation ventures.
Strategic Reductions in Palantir and AMD Holdings
Despite the recent sales activity, Palantir and AMD continue to represent substantial allocations within the ARK Innovation ETF’s portfolio.
Currently, Palantir holds the position as the fund’s 11th-largest investment, with AMD following closely as the 12th-largest holding.
Wood’s investment team regularly adjusts position sizes following significant price movements, typically without completely divesting from holdings.
These recent transactions should therefore be viewed as portfolio optimization rather than complete exits from either technology company.
Palantir continues to attract attention due to strong market demand for its advanced artificial intelligence platforms and data analytics solutions.
Meanwhile, AMD has experienced increased investor enthusiasm driven by the growing demand for AI-optimized processors and data center infrastructure.
These two companies have consistently been among the most prominent technology investments in Cathie Wood’s portfolio strategy.
The firm has also been building positions in other AI-focused companies recently.
On September 17, ARK acquired 239,083 shares of CoreWeave valued at approximately $19.9 million distributed across multiple ETFs.
The majority of this CoreWeave investment was channeled through the ARK Innovation ETF.
Expanded Investment in Archer Aviation
ARK allocated a portion of its recent capital movements to expand its ownership in Archer Aviation.
The investment firm purchased approximately $3.35 million worth of Archer equity.
Within the ARK Innovation ETF, Archer Aviation currently ranks approximately 30th among all holdings and comprises roughly 1.2% of total portfolio assets.
Archer specializes in developing electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles, commonly referred to as eVTOLs.
The company’s stock has declined approximately 31% year-to-date and was recently priced around $5.26 per share.
This purchase coincided with Archer’s announcement of a major strategic partnership with Boeing.
Under the agreement, Archer will acquire several Boeing business units, including Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu.
This acquisition would significantly enhance Archer’s capabilities in autonomous flight systems, aerial navigation technologies, and related aviation innovations.
As compensation for these assets, Boeing will obtain a 16.5% equity position in Archer upon completion of the deal.
ARK Innovation Maintains Technology-Centric Strategy
As of mid-September, the ARK Innovation ETF managed approximately $7.86 billion in total assets under management.
The portfolio consisted of 46 individual positions, with the top 10 holdings accounting for slightly more than 50% of total assets.
Tesla maintained its position as the fund’s largest holding at approximately 9.18% of the portfolio.
SpaceX represented around 6.32% of assets, with Tempus AI following at 5.87%.
Circle comprised approximately 5.16% of the portfolio, while Coinbase accounted for roughly 4.63% of total holdings.
These recent transactions demonstrate ARK’s continued strategy of reallocating capital between well-established technology investments and emerging companies operating in developing sectors.
For the present, both Palantir and AMD maintain their status as core holdings, while Archer Aviation has received additional capital commitment from Wood’s premier ETF.
