During the opening week of August, Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest executed significant portfolio adjustments, channeling capital into aerospace, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and digital assets while reducing positions in gaming, enterprise software, and healthcare sectors.
The space exploration company emerged as Ark’s most substantial investment for the period. The investment firm acquired 316,963 shares distributed across four separate funds, representing a combined investment of approximately $36.9M. Ark initiated purchases on August 5 as the equity declined 13.6% in the aftermath of its inaugural public earnings disclosure. SpaceX reported revenues reaching $7.8B, marking a 92% year-over-year increase, though market participants initially responded unfavorably to the company’s substantial AI infrastructure capital expenditures. Additional purchases followed on August 7 as shares surged 15.8%.

Cryptocurrency Allocations Expand
Circle Internet Group commanded the largest cryptocurrency-related investment for the week. Ark accumulated 610,177 shares valued at approximately $39M. These acquisitions occurred despite Circle’s second-quarter revenue falling short of analyst projections. The company’s USDC stablecoin circulation expanded 19% annually to reach $73.3B, while on-chain transaction volumes surged 151% to $14.8T.
Coinbase represented another significant accumulation. Ark acquired 114,444 shares worth roughly $17M. Block also received attention, with 267,676 shares purchased for approximately $21M.
Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Remains Priority
Ark accumulated 169,616 shares of CoreWeave valued at $13.2M, expanding its exposure to GPU-based cloud computing services. The firm simultaneously acquired 65,677 shares of Cerebras Systems for $13.1M, a specialist in AI processor technology.
Nvidia positions were enhanced across five separate funds, with 80,415 shares purchased for approximately $17.6M. Nvidia’s data center networking segment experienced nearly 200% year-over-year revenue growth in the most recent quarter. The four dominant hyperscale cloud providers have projected capital expenditures reaching $725 billion this year, representing a 77% annual increase, with Nvidia positioned to secure a substantial portion of this spending.
Cloudflare experienced both selling and buying activity within the same week. Following initial share disposals earlier in the period, Ark reversed direction and purchased 114,134 shares worth $35.4M after Cloudflare announced 35.9% revenue growth and elevated its annual guidance. Amazon also entered the portfolio, with 73,835 shares acquired for roughly $21M.
Notable Divestments
Roblox represented the most substantial position reduction by a considerable margin. Ark divested 2.64M shares valued at roughly $96M, including 1.6M shares from a single fund on August 7 exclusively. The stock appreciated 4.9% during that trading session.
Shopify experienced $35M in share liquidations across three separate funds. Palantir was reduced by $21M. Modest reductions encompassed AMD, Snowflake, CrowdStrike, Natera, and Roku.
Industrial sector holdings including Caterpillar, Garmin, Deere, and Komatsu also experienced portfolio trims.
