Quentin Dolan Moves Into Rangers Control
MSG Sports named Quentin Dolan President, Chief Operating Officer, and Alternate Governor of the New York Rangers. The appointment took effect immediately and it expands his role across the franchise. He will also keep oversight of player performance and science for the Rangers and Knicks.
In the new role, Quentin Dolan will handle day-to-day ownership duties for the Rangers. He will also work with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the team’s AHL affiliate. Chris Drury will remain Rangers President and General Manager.
Drury will continue to lead hockey operations and make all hockey decisions. However, he will now report to Quentin Dolan under the new structure. Quentin Dolan will report to MSG Sports Executive Chairman and CEO James L. Dolan.
MSG Sports Adjusts Rangers Reporting Structure
The leadership change places Quentin Dolan between ownership and hockey operations. MSG Sports now gives him a larger role in team direction and strategy. The company said the move strengthens coordination across management, coaching, and player support.
James L. Dolan will step back from daily Rangers responsibilities, but he remains MSG Sports Executive Chairman and CEO. The shift gives Quentin Dolan more control over operational decisions. It also keeps Drury focused on roster planning, team building, and hockey execution.
The change comes as the Rangers seek stronger alignment across leadership and hockey operations. Mike Sullivan and the coaching staff will work within that structure. As a result, MSG Sports expects clearer links between ownership priorities and team performance systems.
