Online Gaming Platforms Continue Ascent as Physical Casinos Face Headwinds
Traditional casino properties throughout Pennsylvania delivered varied performance metrics. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course claimed the top position among all facilities, recording $116.3 million in adjusted gross revenue—an 8.5% increase from the prior year.
Valley Forge Casino Resort demonstrated exceptional strength, advancing 14.6% to secure $98.8 million in revenue. Caesars Virginia generated $34.2 million in adjusted gross receipts during the period.
However, several establishments experienced setbacks. Parx Casino registered a modest decline to $57.8 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem witnessed a 9.2% contraction to $45.9 million.
Across Pennsylvania’s retail casino landscape, slot machine revenue totaled $216.2 million, reflecting a 2.8% decrease from March 2025. Physical table game revenue contracted 3.9% to $78.7 million.
The online gaming sector painted a contrasting picture. Internet slot games surged 12.2% to achieve $201.4 million in revenue.
Aggregate iGaming revenue climbed to $254.7 million, representing a 6.9% year-over-year expansion. This performance demonstrates that digital casino revenue is rapidly approaching the level generated by traditional slot machines.
Harrah’s Philadelphia experienced particularly impressive online growth. The property’s iGaming revenue soared 42.7% versus the same month in the previous year.
Sports Wagering Profitability Jumps Even as Betting Volume Drops
The sports betting segment exhibited a notable paradox. Total wagering volume declined 13.3% to $730.9 million across Pennsylvania sportsbooks.
Yet taxable sports betting revenue skyrocketed 77.1% to reach $47.9 million. This divergence indicates that operators retained a substantially higher percentage of wagers placed throughout the month.
Valley Forge Casino Resort nearly doubled its sports betting revenue, climbing to $18.6 million. Presque Isle Downs recorded an extraordinary 591% surge in sports wagering revenue, achieving $2.3 million.
Hollywood Casino at the Meadows expanded its sports betting revenue by 65.4% to $14.5 million.
Video gaming terminal operations added $3.9 million to Pennsylvania’s total gaming revenue, representing a 4.1% increase. Daily fantasy sports contests experienced a nearly 10% decline to $1.1 million.
DraftKings maintained its position as Pennsylvania’s leading fantasy sports operator, generating $834,000 in revenue during March.
The March statistics demonstrate that Pennsylvania’s gaming industry expansion is increasingly concentrated in digital channels. Traditional casino operations contracted across both slot machines and table games, while internet gaming and sports betting platforms delivered substantial gains.
Valley Forge Casino Resort distinguished itself as a top performer in multiple segments, achieving double-digit revenue growth in both total receipts and sports wagering operations. Presque Isle Downs registered the most dramatic percentage gain in sports betting revenue, surging 591% year-over-year.
