- POET stock jumps 39% after Lumilens places $50M AI engine order.
- Lumilens deal sends POET shares higher on AI optics demand.
- POET rallies as $50M order supports next-gen AI interconnects.
- POET gains sharply after Lumilens backs EOI engine production.
- $50M Lumilens order sparks major POET stock breakout.
POET Technologies (POET) shares jumped 39.26% to $20.01 after a sharp morning breakout tied to Lumilens’ supply agreement for AI engines. The deal adds a $50 million purchase order for EOI-based engines and supports a broader five-year supply path with Lumilens. Moreover, the agreement places POET deeper inside AI infrastructure, where optical bottlenecks now shape computing scale and system performance.
POET Secures Lumilens Order for AI Optical Engines
POET Technologies and Lumilens entered a supply agreement covering joint development and commercial technology work for AI networks and data centers. The companies plan to advance wafer-level photonic integration through a new Electrical-Optical Interposer platform for advanced AI workloads. Therefore, the partnership targets faster optical engine production and higher density for next-generation AI data center architectures at scale.
The first phase includes a Lumilens purchase order valued at $50 million for EOI-based engines from POET. The companies said the supplier relationship could grow beyond $500 million in cumulative purchases over five years, subject to execution. However, future revenue depends on module development, product qualification, manufacturing scale, and customer deployments across the joint program.
POET also granted Lumilens a warrant to buy up to 22.92 million common shares under the agreement. Lumilens can exercise 2.29 million shares immediately, while other tranches vest through future purchase payments by Lumilens. The warrant carries an $8.25 exercise price and remains exercisable over a nine-year period under the deal.
AI Interconnect Push Drives POET Stock Breakout
POET shares surged to $20.01, up $5.64, as the market reacted to the commercial framework and order size. The stock gained 39.26% after a strong morning move and held near the session high through midday trade. Besides, the rally reflected stronger attention on optical links as AI systems demand faster internal data movement across computing clusters.
The companies framed the EOI platform as a new integration model for optical engines and AI interconnects. It aims to remove active alignment from production, which can improve throughput and reduce labor-bound assembly limits. Wafer-scale processing could help optical supply match hyperscaler GPU fleet growth more efficiently over time.
The roadmap covers 800G and 1.6T pluggable transceivers, then near-package and co-packaged optics for denser systems. POET brings optical engine integration, while Lumilens adds chipset and manufacturing capabilities for high-performance interconnects. Consequently, the deal gives POET a larger commercial path across AI data center hardware and future optical infrastructure.
