Shares of SpaceX experienced a modest 1.9% decline in Monday’s premarket hours, trading at $135.28, barely below the company’s $135 IPO price point. This slight retreat occurred despite an action-packed weekend for the aerospace giant.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp., SPCX
The company executed a pair of Starlink deployment missions during the weekend. One Falcon 9 rocket departed Cape Canaveral carrying 29 satellites into orbit, while a second launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base deployed 27 additional Starlink satellites.
These consecutive deployments marked a significant achievement: SpaceX’s 100th orbital launch of 2026. For perspective, the company achieved this same benchmark several days later during 2025, eventually completing 170 total missions that year—accounting for over half of all worldwide orbital launches.
Starlink’s Financial Performance Strengthens
The satellite internet division concluded Q2 2026 with approximately 12 million paying customers. Quarterly revenue climbed to $4.3 billion, representing substantial growth from the $2.6 billion recorded during the same period last year.
The division’s adjusted EBITDA reached $2.6 billion for the quarter, up from $1.6 billion in Q2 2025. These figures demonstrate the ongoing expansion trajectory of SpaceX’s satellite broadband division.
Critical Starship Test 14 Approaching
SpaceX successfully executed a static fire test involving six Raptor engines mounted on Starship’s upper stage on Aug. 21. These ground-based firing tests represent crucial pre-flight validation procedures.
The Super Heavy booster hasn’t undergone its static fire testing yet. This booster test is anticipated prior to the integrated flight test, positioning Starship Test 14 for a September launch window.
Investment community attention remains focused on Test 14. The upcoming flight test is projected to demonstrate Starship’s capability to achieve and maintain stable Earth orbit—a first for the vehicle.
The company aims to begin Starship commercial payload operations by late 2027. Elon Musk has also highlighted Starship’s potential role in launching orbital AI data centers, positioning SpaceX competitively within the artificial intelligence infrastructure market through reduced launch costs.
In a separate announcement on Aug. 21, Musk revealed SpaceX’s ambitious target of exceeding 30 daily launches by 2030—translating to approximately 10,000 annual missions. This objective significantly surpasses the U.S. government’s stated goal of 1,000 yearly launches by 2030 and dwarfs the FAA’s earlier projection of 385 launches.
