Shares of Target (TGT) moved higher to approximately $164 during early trading Wednesday after the retail giant announced September 10 as the official debut date for its Target Beauty Studio. This uptick arrived one day after a Halloween costume dispute caused TGT to decline roughly 4% to $163.47.
The Target Beauty Studio rollout will encompass more than 600 physical locations alongside availability on Target.com. This dedicated beauty destination will showcase more than 1,600 items spanning 90 prestige, emerging, and international beauty brands. Notably, over two-thirds of these labels will make their Target debut through this initiative.
Target first unveiled the studio concept back in March of this year. The initiative aims to carve out a premium beauty section within Target’s existing beauty department, targeting a market projected to reach $36 billion by 2025.
The skincare category will feature brands like Clearstem, First Aid Beauty, and Sunday Riley. Haircare offerings will include Bondi Boost, Briogeo, and Nioxin. Korean beauty enthusiasts can explore brands such as Amuse, Kaja, and Rom&nd, while Mexican brand SARELLY and French nailcare specialist Manucurist round out the international selection.
Specially trained Beauty Advisors wearing distinctive uniforms will staff the studio sections in stores. Shoppers will find product testing stations and a central display table for interactive brand experiences, kicking off with Lake & Skye fragrances.
Curated displays will rotate through themes including “Editors’ Picks,” “Most Loved,” and “Standouts of the Season.” Target Circle loyalty members will gain access to special promotions connected to the beauty studio.
Target plans an in-store celebration event on September 26 from noon until 4 p.m. local time. The first 100 customers at most locations will receive an exclusive Target Circle bonus valid for purchases within the new beauty section.
Replacing the Ulta Partnership
This beauty studio debut arrives soon after Target and Ulta Beauty concluded their five-year retail partnership earlier this month. Ulta-branded shop-in-shops have been fully removed from Target stores and the company’s website.
The two retailers publicly announced their separation last August. Industry analysts interpret Target Beauty Studio as a strategic replacement for the Ulta partnership, with several forecasting long-term advantages for Target through complete ownership and control of the beauty space.
Revenue Growth Momentum
Target posted revenue growth of 5.3% year-over-year during Q2 2026, totaling $26.54 billion. The retailer has set a full-year sales growth target of 5%.
The company positioned the beauty studio launch as a key component of its broader strategy to accelerate growth through differentiated product offerings and enhanced in-store shopping experiences.
Among Wall Street analysts, TGT carries a Moderate Buy consensus rating. This comprises 12 Buy recommendations, 14 Hold ratings, and 2 Sell ratings issued over the last three months. The average analyst price target stands at $165.06, representing approximately 2% upside from current trading levels.
