Uber stock experienced a decline to roughly $72 during Wednesday’s morning trading session after Bloomberg disclosed the rideshare giant is securing €4.5 billion ($5.2 billion) via its inaugural eurobond issuance.
The financing package features five separate tranches with varying maturity dates spanning from three years to two decades. Market appetite proved robust, as the issuance attracted more than €21 billion in subscription orders.
This represents Uber’s continued utilization of debt markets. The company previously secured $2.25 billion through senior note offerings in September 2025, following an earlier $1 billion senior note placement in May of that year.
The fresh capital infusion directly supports Uber’s ambitious $10 billion autonomous vehicle strategy. The transportation network is acquiring self-driving taxi fleets and establishing equity positions in companies developing autonomous driving technology.
Uber divested its internal autonomous vehicle division in 2020. The company is now aggressively pursuing partnerships to regain ground. Last month marked the debut of its first European robotaxi operation in Zagreb, Croatia.
The company has additionally joined forces with UK-based autonomous driving company Wayve to introduce London’s inaugural robotaxi service.
To maintain financial discipline throughout this expansion phase, Uber reduced its global employee count by 10% and has implemented AI-powered solutions to optimize operational efficiency.
Second Quarter Performance Demonstrates Solid Growth
The elevated spending hasn’t hindered operational performance. During Q2 2026, Uber’s gross bookings climbed 24% compared to the prior year, reaching $58 billion.
This robust expansion continues to fuel analyst optimism. The stock carries a Strong Buy consensus rating from Wall Street, reflecting 30 Buy recommendations and four Hold ratings compiled over the previous three months. Analysts’ average price objective of $103.83 suggests potential upside of approximately 44% from present trading levels.
Executive confidence was also evident through insider activity. COO Andrew Macdonald acquired 70,000 shares on September 4, investing a total of $5.3 million.
Delivery Hero Leadership Endorses Acquisition Proposal
Regarding corporate development activities, Delivery Hero announced that both its management and supervisory boards have endorsed Uber’s $14.8 billion acquisition offer and are advising shareholders to accept the transaction.
Uber revealed the proposed deal in July following a strategic accumulation of shares in the German food delivery provider, ultimately becoming the largest shareholder before initiating acquisition discussions.
Delivery Hero’s boards stated the merger “has the potential to accelerate product innovation and create additional opportunities for employees, customers, merchants, riders, drivers, and other stakeholders.”
Technology investment firm Prosus, which maintains an ownership position in Delivery Hero, plans to divest its remaining shares to Uber under the terms of the transaction.
Uber’s consensus analyst price target presently sits at $103.83, while shares traded near $72 as of Wednesday’s opening session.
