Key Highlights
- Privy, acquired by Stripe, is integrating its programmable wallet infrastructure with the XRP Ledger via Ripple collaboration.
- The partnership enables developers to build and control XRPL wallets, process transactions, and work with XRP, RLUSD, and additional digital assets.
- AI agents have executed 13 million transactions on the XRP Ledger, representing approximately 25% of total network operations.
- Server-side wallet solutions will facilitate AI agent integration with payment protocols like x402.
- Standard Chartered began offering institutional custody services for RLUSD on the XRP Ledger starting Oct. 12.
A new collaboration between Ripple and Privy—a wallet infrastructure provider now owned by Stripe—will deliver XRP and RLUSD wallet capabilities to applications operating on the XRP Ledger. Privy announced the partnership on Oct. 13.
The collaboration aims to streamline the development of payment features embedded within applications. It will accommodate both traditional consumer financial services and emerging applications enabling AI agents to execute automated payments.
Developer Tools Coming to XRP Ledger Through Privy
Privy’s platform will provide programmatic wallet generation, wallet administration, and transaction authorization capabilities through its software infrastructure. Developers will gain access to functionality supporting XRP, Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, and additional assets native to the ledger.
“With Privy, developers will be able to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and build experiences using XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets on XRPL,” the company said.
For consumer-facing applications, financial technology firms could implement embedded wallet solutions for stablecoin transactions. End users would avoid the complexity of managing private cryptographic keys themselves.
Privy’s roadmap includes server-side wallet offerings. These tools would enable enterprises to facilitate AI agent operations that process payments via protocols such as x402.
Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, noted that the integration provides developers with infrastructure for creating scalable financial applications. He highlighted the ledger’s rapid settlement times, minimal transaction costs, and built-in digital asset functionality.
AI Agent Activity Reaches 13 Million Payments on XRPL
According to Ripple, AI agents have completed 13 million payment operations on the XRP Ledger. “To date, it has processed 13M agent payments, which now account for roughly 25% of network activity,” the company stated.
Ripple became a Premier Member of the x402 Foundation on July 14. The Linux Foundation manages x402 through open governance structures following Coinbase’s protocol contribution.
Additional Premier Members comprise Stripe, Coinbase, Circle, Google, Visa, and Mastercard. Ripple launched its XRPL AI Starter Kit in June to facilitate payment transmission and receipt in XRP and RLUSD by software agents.
Stripe completed its acquisition of Privy in June 2025, following its $1.1 billion acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge. Financial details of the Privy transaction remain undisclosed.
Founded in 2021, Privy develops infrastructure enabling businesses to incorporate cryptocurrency wallet functionality into their platforms. Stripe indicated Privy would maintain independent operations, similar to Bridge’s structure.
A Sept. 26 analysis placed RLUSD’s circulating supply near $2.5 billion, referencing CoinMarketCap figures. DefiLlama statistics showed stablecoin holdings on the XRP Ledger totaling approximately $1.19 billion, with roughly $1.10 billion attributed to RLUSD.
Within the United States, RLUSD issuance occurs through Standard Custody & Trust Company operating under New York State Department of Financial Services oversight. Ripple notes the stablecoin lacks FDIC insurance or SIPC protection.
On Oct. 12, Standard Chartered introduced institutional custody services for RLUSD on the XRP Ledger via its Dubai International Financial Centre division. Qualified institutional clients may now store the stablecoin through this service.
The financial institution is developing a collateral framework with Ripple and LMAX Group. The arrangement would permit institutions to utilize RLUSD for trading activities while maintaining tokens in custody, subject to testing completion, necessary approvals, and regulatory compliance.
