Executive Transition Drives Analyst Upgrade
Mizuho’s revised price target follows Zscaler’s announcement that Ross Tackett will assume the position of Chief Revenue Officer. This move comes as Mike Rich departs from the executive role.
Before his promotion, Tackett oversaw Worldwide Sales operations and managed the Americas region. He brought his expertise to Zscaler three years ago after leaving ServiceNow.
Following the announcement, Mizuho engaged in discussions with Zscaler’s management team. Company executives emphasized business continuity, highlighting Tackett’s extensive background and his central participation in developing revenue forecasts.
According to the firm, management didn’t view a formal guidance update as warranted. Tackett’s significant involvement in creating the outlook released just three weeks earlier provided confidence in the existing projections.
Guggenheim issued its own assessment this week. The investment bank maintained its Buy recommendation alongside a $214 price objective after reviewing the management transition.
Rich originally came aboard in November 2023 with a mandate to transform the company’s sales strategy. His focus centered on evolving from transaction-based selling to a more strategic, account-focused methodology.
Guggenheim observed that New ARR growth returned to double-digit territory beginning in the January 2025 reporting period. This momentum has persisted for seven consecutive quarters, according to the firm’s analysis.
Rather than completely exiting, Rich will continue contributing as a strategic advisor until December 31, 2026, while Tackett officially assumes CRO responsibilities on October 1.
Financial Performance Supports Analyst Confidence
Zscaler’s underlying financial metrics provide substantial support for analyst optimism. The cybersecurity provider achieved a gross profit margin of 77% during the trailing twelve-month period.
Top-line expansion reached 25% across the same timeframe. This operational strength has translated into stock appreciation, with shares delivering a 54% gain over the past six months.
Mizuho attributed its elevated target partially to higher comparable valuation multiples. The firm maintains conviction in Zscaler’s competitive position within the SASE and Zero Trust security markets, despite intensifying competitive dynamics.
Zscaler’s results for the fiscal fourth quarter reinforced the positive outlook. The company generated $898.2 million in revenue, representing a 25% year-over-year increase that exceeded analyst expectations by 2.4%.
Additional investment firms have echoed this optimistic stance. FBN Securities established a $190 price target with an Outperform rating, while Stephens pushed its objective to $225.
JPMorgan maintained its existing $215 target. The bank emphasized that both revenue and annual recurring revenue metrics surpassed market forecasts.
On September 23, Zscaler announced plans to host an Investor Day in New York City scheduled for October 6. Company leadership will outline strategic initiatives, long-term growth catalysts, and financial projections during the presentation.
